I previously had a '16 3LT Z51 in Night Race Blue and sold it and bought an '18 2LT GS in Sebring Orange. Shortly after buyi ng the GS my name came up to place my order for a C8. I jumped on it and waited until the new one was in production before putting the GS up for sale. I sold the GS in 15 minutes on Marketplace.
I took delivery of my new C8 2LT Z51 HTC in late Feb of '22. After getting the new one I really missed the C7. I drove the C8 about 6500 miles and finally after one of my buddies C8 went in for the third time for transmission issues and my neighbors going in for a broken HTC cable, I just felt like my time was coming for a failure. I know these things happen, but the ones I have seen and the horribly long wait times for replacement parts and the $1200 transmission service was what pushed me to decide to let mine go. The C8 was cool, but it didn't have that raw front engine feel that the C7 provided.
I searched and finally found a 2019 2LT GS in Sebring Orange with PDR and short miles....
The story you related, OP, is being played out over and over again. Some are left out in the cold with C8s in disrepair. The newest ain't so great after all, is what many are realizing. The tried and true is what you came back to. Congratulations on your new to you, C7!

If I recall, one of the corvette engineers, forgot which one said, C7 engineering was the most they could get out of a front engine corvette.
So there you go,, its a great car and the pinnacle of front engine Corvettes.

It's (C7) proving it''s value in just being a better car than the newer one.
I mentioned to my service advisor when I took mine in for an oil change that I would eventually going to upgrade to a C8 and it is growing on me.
He showed me 13 C8s that were in the shop at the time for various issues. He said DON'T buy a C8.
I love your car OP, the color is perfect for a GS.

I considered just buying a warranty, but with the implementation of Just in Time manufacturing, parts shortages will be the norm for cars that are still in production. These parts are assigned to a specific car scheduled for production and there is very little available for stock for repairs. The bean counter that came up with this type of manufacturing should be tarred and feathered! The car was comfortable, but storage space was nil and the great wall of buttons was as useless as feathers on a fish. The buttons were so tiny and hard to read that they were essentially useless. I used the touch screen as it was more intuitive. The C7 just makes more sense and is more enjoyable to me to drive.
