This is exactly why in yet a similar thread on the front page here today I suggested that EVERyONE should try the metal key from the FOB to mechanically open the hatch and then pull the cord-end on the left vertical side of the rear compartment to mechanically open the driver's door! First, this assures one knows how to do these emergency actions (yeah, Vette batteries die and at the least opportune times) and secondly this adds some assurance both actions will function correctly when needed. There are accounts here of people needing these things to work and they've never been used on years-old cars, and then they don't. DO them, try both once in a while. They are mechanical, as stressed, and can "freeze-up" with non-use.
