what would you do if the cable on the latch next to the seats broke?

No, surprisingly considering the sharp curled tab, it didn't hurt. Instead it felt like I swalled a smooth round object, maybe like a large marble.
I shook the can confirming to myself that there was no tab rattling around inside, and said to my roommate who was standing beside me 'Wes, I think I swallowed the pop top!" "No!' he said.
After a 10-minute drive to the A.H. Fox Hospital Emergency Room, and three x-rays that couldn't locate the tab, my story was doubted, but I was sure I'd swallowed it. They told me to come back the next morning for another look. I did, and they found it on the first x-ray.
I was given two options, surgery, or 'let it pass naturally, but it might get hung up somewhere'. I wasn't eager for option 1, but option 2 sounded ominously dangerous (today, they'd probably snake a camera down and fish it out).
So, since May 5, 1977, I've had a 5" vertical scar on my abdomen, just above my navel.
My mother always told me not to put the tabs in the cans, that I'd swallow it. Yeah, right, would have been my response. Regardless, that was the last can I ever dropped a tab into.
See all the interesting stuff you can read about on the CF...??
