I'm the proud oner of a 2019 C7 GS. I'm hoping that somebody can explain to me what the "motion sensor" button next to my hatch opener button is supposed to do. I noticed it there recently and was amazed that I never noticed it before. I tried looking it up in my owners manuel and found nothing on it. I pushed the button and a little light comes on (at the button), but I have no idea what is supposed to happen. The thing has been off since I bought the car. Please enlighten me if you can.
I found out the hard way, it sets off that alarm if you try to jack up the car, if you don’t turn it off. I also understand, if someone stays inside the car when you turn off the vehicle, it will alarm unless you turn it off. I never tried the second one myself.

It detects motion and alarms, when activated.
Try this..... set it, leave the windows down and exit the car. Now, reach into the cabin through the open window....
It's funny, but this just happened to me yesterday. Last time I just unlocked the car with the fob and it shuts off the alarm as well. I will have to look for the shutoff button and try to remember to do that. It always happens when I leave someone in the car and forget to disable it. However, when people throw flyers into the car at car shows, it never sets off the alarm!

It happens often at shows I've been to with other Corvettes.
I don't know if it arms the intrusion sensors when the car is unlocked as BAT states, but it definitely disarms it when leaving the car.
From the 2017 owner's manual, page 41:Intrusion and Inclination Sensors Disable Switch
It is recommended that the intrusion and inclination sensors be deactivated if pets are left in the vehicle or if the vehicle is being transported.
With the vehicle turned off, press (the button) to the right of the hatch/trunk release button. The indicator light will come on momentarily, indicating that these sensors have been disabled until the next time the alarm system is armed.
My wife LOVES the alarm when I get out to pump gas and forget to push the button and the car locks itself. She moves and the car alarm goes off.
The intrusion alarm is off when the car is unlocked, top removed (microswitch in driver's side windshield socket for the roof panel), convertible top is open, or button has been pressed.
If you go to a car show and leave your windows down or cracked, and someone puts a flyer in your car it will set off the alarm unless you have pushed that button or left the car unlocked. I found that out the hard way. I always turn it off when I'm jacking up the car but never thought to do it at a show.
I got some paperwork at a Judging Meet. I was getting ready to go, I had the windows down, because, it was 🔥. I threw the paperwork intp the car and the alam went off. I have also had it happen with the top down.
