just picked up a ACdelco battery from my local dealer and wanted to double check that it is the correct one;
1 I thought the battery in ours didn’t have a lift handle? Or is that only the one with manufacture?
2 I wanted to double check the date code -the 01 would be January?and the 5 would be the year? It’s not 2025 yet, so shouldn’t this be a 4?
They sold you a standard battery which is fine. On these batteries, usually the date code is stamped into the case near the positive terminal. I do agree that normally G=Gold, 01 = January, "5" = year....and hopefully not 2015!....and "R" is the plant
Below is the AGM I put in mine a couple months ago....

ok, I actually ordered it on line at GM, for delivery at the dealership -so is this one not as good as the battery that came in the car originally?
I am actually only changing it because I still have the original in my 2019, which I actually bought in may 2018 -so going on 7 years old.
I’m going to look at the case and check the numbers - is it in a specific format?
thanks!

GM doesn't recommend using AGM batteries in the C7 because the charging system isn't designed to support them. The charging voltage can go higher than appropriate for an AGM battery. The picture below shows the three batteries GM recommends for the C7. You have the top of the line 42 month warranty battery.
My dealer installed that battery in my car last year for ~ $250.
Just bought this same battery last week after putting in an Optima Deep cycle AGM battery and having 4 months of electrical gremlins. All good now with correct GM direct replacement battery for the one that the car left the factory with.
@glava2876 That's the exact same battery I installed this spring and I have not had any issues. And you're correct, the batteries installed from factory did not have carry handles but thankfully these replacements do.

thanks Bill that’s what I tried to get -the top one.
I was able to get a 10% discount and use some rewards, was $158.92 and will get an $19.44 core return.

Your battery is fine and is equivalent to OEM. The AGM vs Flooded debate goes back years.
When I changed my battery in Sept, it was for the same reason. Ordered my 2019 new in April of 2018. Took delivery of the car in Sept 2018 and nearly 6 years to the day, the battery died.
Make sure they gjve you the elbow vent. When, I picked up my battery they forgot to give it to me (they come separate to the Parts Department) and had to go back to get it.

thanks, I’m actually changing it out this afternoon- they just gave me the battery -can I use the elbow from my existing battery?
These are great questions to bring to your dealer's attention if you are looking for professional assistance. We'd recommend connecting with them to obtain clear answers.

The parts desk told me that they were not sure how to read the date code - I had to explain it to them.
i did some internet searches and
it looks as though others have had this same thing happen with dates that were a month or so after they purchased and they feel that it just has a later date to cover potential time to get to market.
So no need for the dealer, but thanks anyway.
I installed the new battery and it was a pia to get the old one out, but way easier installing the new one now that they have a handle.
i used the original battery plug and vent elbow and that went great.
i was also careful with the separate wire that goes to the ground.
i indexed the windows and put the battery tender on it.
all is good😂
