Don’t ever go over 14mph over. It really isn’t that hard. 15mph+ over the speed limit and it’s a different ticket. Join SCCA, do an HPDE, etc…
I got my A4 C5 up to 137 on Road America, in Wisconsin. It’s one of the fastest tracks. With 50+ laps in a day, I think I’m good. You guys can get your C7’s to 150+mph on there.
I do not have any pointers, but just be happy you were not the guy I just saw on Facebook, got clocked doing 108 in 45 MPH zone in a rural area west of Orlando, that is going to hurt.
I have no issue with the guy doing 90 in a 65. That's an open highway. But a guy doing over 100 in a 45 zone deserves a wake-up call. That's likely a residential zone and he could easily have killed someone or himself. Please don't drive foolishly in zones where the limit is under 55.
So, I finally, got my cherry popped and got my first speeding ticket after owning a vette for 6 years, any one have any pointers in possibly fighting or should I just pony up the cash and pay the fine, then do traffic school. The cop says I was doing 90 in a 65 mile zone, so that comes out to around $360 - $380 estimated, plus $100 base fine. Any help or ifno is appreciated, thanks.
I would pay the fine. And consider yourself lucky not to have hurt anyone while driving 90+ mph.👍🏻
I got stuck in the mountains of Tennessee behind two trucks going 55 for about twenty miles until I got a small opening between them. I was towing a trailer so I had to speed up to get it through the gap. Just as I got through a cop caught me on radar going 90. It was only for a few seconds and I told him that, but it made no difference. I got the ticket and paid it, $350, and thought that was it. But about a month later I got a notice from USAA that my premiums were going up $400 per year for three years, or $1200. Pay the damn lawyer and get the points removed! What's even worse is that if you haven't learned your lesson from the first ticket, wait until you get your second one!
Like always I forgot key details, I was in heading up to Monterey this weekend and got pulled over in Paso Robles by the Highway Patrol, looks like I'll look into a ticket attorney and see how they can help me out, thanks guys, appreciate it.
You were driving:
"90 mph in a 65 mph zone......"
And, you want to; "get an attorney to fight it ??"

If you read through the thread , you don't hire an attorney to "fight it , you hire an attorney to get it knocked down so you don't get the points on your record ... Its a racket all they really want is your money which in this case is well worth it .....
And let's face it we all own corvettes ... are you saying you never opened it up somewhere ? ... His mistake was just that he got caught ..... and we all got lucky ..... Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone
I learned many years ago the risks of careless driving. It makes my life so much easier to comply with the laws of the land. I'm in no rush when I drive my Corvette. I'm enjoying the ride. No sympathy here for you.
Depending on the state and local jurisdiction, 15 or 20 over can be considered reckless driving, lots of points, big fines, mandatory court appearance, possible drivers education. All of my most block-headed moves involved speeding, resulting in four (!) court appearances spread over the first 35 years (out of 55 years) of driving:
Local road on my commute to work - individual pleading, officer present, resulting in small fine but no points.
Local road in my home town - mass plead of guilty with about 30 speed-trap defendants, team of officers present, resulting in fine but no points.
Local road on homeward bound holiday trip - individual pleading, officer present, resulting in small fine but no points.
US highway on business trip - individual pleading among 100+ pleadings, officer would be called if I wished, resulting in fine but no points.
As far as court is concerned, I never used an attorney (and was advised in #4 that this would worsen my case.) I always admitted I had been speeding, said I'd pay the fine, asked for "no points", and the court "wrote down' the charge.
I consider myself lucky that no accident ever occurred and have behaved myself ever since (especially in the Vette.)

This. My ticket for +20 was early on a Sunday morning where I was the only one within sight on a major freeway going through backwoods Oklahoma. The only car that finally passed me was a trooper going the other way so let's be honest, this was about money, not safety. But I also know it was my fault. I should have known that being all alone on a highway like that I was a sitting duck. If there had been traffic anywhere I doubt he would have ever singled me out or even given me a second look.
I have been stopped 3 times in the past 25 years for minor speeding, two of those times I was not able to find my registration in a reasonable amount of time, office said "stop looking" I am going to ticket you for not having your registration, instead of speeding, one resulted in a warning ticket that would turn into a real ticket if stopped again within 6 months, the other was a $10.00 fine.
Third time I got real lucky, officer was an ex-Marine, saw I had veteran status on my DL, we chatted a bit about military service stuff, he let me go no ticket.
Just lucky I guess.
I have a slew of speeding tickets (always just speeding). Always driving fast on the freeway. I drive a lot. I always fight them within reason, meaning no lawyers. There is always an option to "defer" or "plea in abayence". I only do it to keep my insurance down. Speeding tickets are always a money making racket but if they don't have a "discounted offer" I take it to trial, represent myself, and hope the cop doesn't show up. If he does I lose and the only thing it costs me is a bit of time.
Oh, and don't forget. NEVER talk to them when they pull you over. All you are required to do is identify yourself and provide proof of ownership and insurance. The first thing they will ask is something like "Do you know why I pulled you over?" or "Why the hurry?" Anything to get you to admit guilt. I simply don't speak. You can also just tell them you refuse to answer any questions or consent to any searches. Show that you know the law, be respectful, and they are more likely to let you go. It just happened to me 2 nights ago. He just told me to slow down.

i've been told by 2 in az, dps/ppd.....having veteran on dl may get you out of a ticket!

So every time you lose there are no repercussions or ramifications of that speeding ticket other than your time and some fines? That is some total BS.
Not sure how OP's state does it. In Florida, you can request a court date. You go to court & it's just a pre trial hearing. You have 2 choices. Plead not guilty & go to trial,(where evidence & the cop shows up) or plead no contest adjudication withheld & then the judge decides there what to do. In 99% of cases, he does court costs & no points. Your driving record has to be pretty bad to get more than that. I don't get tickets but the few I did get I always go this route. Florida is also flooded with ticket lawyers. You pay $75 & they do the same thing.
