Default Bin Guard

Has anyone purchased and installed the Sandy Eggo storage bin protector?

https://www.corvettepartsandaccessor...igns-bin-guard

It's on sale for $40.00.
TIA

Judging by how much trouble it is to get the door open if something goes wrong, it would make me nervous to have something pushing against the door, which it appears to do in the simulation.

I will just leave my extra sunglasses and the music USB Stick in the compartment.

Kind of a Rug Goldberg deal. Over designed, and what's the purpose?

As Vette Jockey says, it keeps items in the bin from sliding backwards into the door (screen) and possibly rendering it unable to open.

OK,,, I guess. Maybe thin things can get caught between the bottom edge gap when the door opens...

I had a couple of almost jams before I discovered this product. I've had one for four or five years now I think. There have been some expensive stories about fixing a jammed door and I didn't want to have it happen to me. I'm glad I've got one.

I wonder if this will work with the shelf I already have in the compartment.

Right. If you use the compartment without it aren’t you running a risk of getting a jam? Forty bucks to prevent a thousand dollar repair? Seems like a no brainer to me.

I had a door jam once but I was able to free it with a plastic pry tool. That was my warning.....so I ordered the Bin Guard immediately after because I want to use the compartment with peace of mind. It provides near 100% protection against jams.
I have a different brand shelf in there and had to cut it slightly and Bin Guard went right in. A year later, perfect still.

My sunglasses got stuck behind the door. I was able to get the door open after several attempts. Lesson learned, purchased both the shelf and guard and have had zero issues since.

Let us know what you think of it when you get it installed. I noticed there's a black friday sale going on at the sandyeggo website.

Thank you so much SD_Dave for the heads up on Sandyeggo’s sale.
I canceled my order from corvettepartsandaccessories.com, placed my Sandyeggo order, and saved $6.00!

I saw you decided to pull the trigger. Good move. I bought the shelf a few years ago and then bought the bin guard just a few months ago. It would not fit with that shelf. Very close, but no cigar! I called and they sent me a newer designed shelf for free and I gave my shelf to another Corvette owner. Now it works perfectly and another worry bites the dust, just like putting that plastic rivet in the gas door so it never locks up. Sandyeggo has some great products. I have the seat skins, driver convex mirror, shelf and now bin guard. Good luck!

Thank you, Bayshore, for your reply. The convex mirror is one of the first mods I purchased and am very happy with it.
Thanks for the heads up on the shelf upgrade. I might purchase one in the future.

Sandyeggo has some great products and backs them up with excellent service. Those I'm using include Bin Buddy, Bin Guard, C7/C8 Corvette Seat Belt Stays, and Recessed Trunk Switch Mount for C7 Corvette.

For anyone concerned about Bin Buddy and Bin Guard tolerance, fear not. The Bin Guard Q&A confirms a 2022 Bin Buddy design change solved the problem.
