Default I need some input

I’m looking at buying this 2017 C706 and I noticed the rear bumper cover has some separation by the tail light. Is this something that’s normal or should I be worried about crash damage underneath the rear bumper?

It's not unusual. Mine does that as well and there are multiple threads on here with others that have seen the same thing. Chevy did a poor job of attaching the 3rd brake light assembly to the bumper cover.

You can slightly push down and forward on the bumper cover and pop it in place but it'll pop out again.

The below pic of mine shows the backside. I circled the bolts that hold the brake light in place. There's really not any adjustability. I suppose that the holes could be elongated so the light slides more aft but you'd probably need 1/4" of movement which then can throw off the alignment of the light in other areas.
