Does anyone think the placement of this button is awkward? I'll show 2 pictures. One is a normal grip, you can see how far away the button is. The next pic is how much I have to bend and cram my wrist up to reach the button. Anyone think this is like who the hell designed this? Normal grip Wrist crammed up to get thumb to button. Fingers crammed up. Fingers out of crammed up position but sticking out near window switches.
,,, and if they moved it back, some people would be *itching that they opened the door by mistake and why did they put it there? Engineering is a job where you are ALWAYS going to tick some people off,,,
They designed the position so that it was fairly centrally located to allow tall and short drivers to access it. Move your seat forward and look at the position of the button and imagine it back 3 inches. Very awkward for the vertically challenged.

Lol, im sure. Hopefully it won't open the door while driving. I wonder if it does?
I have hit the hatch release button several times (2014 owned since January). I'm used to the door button from my C6 days. I've never really thought about its positioning. I tend to naturally adapt to whatever is presented to me. Unless something is really out of whack, over time I just adjust to whatever is being used.
Engineers and designers are a 'bad' bunch.
I should know, I've had to correct too many of their 'ideas'.
Yep, right there with you, I ran a Research and Development test lab for oil and gas sub-sea systems for 15 years, took many engineers with advanced degrees and a couple of PHDs to task over their ill designed projects.
Bur I adapted to the C7 door open button pretty quickly, as mentioned above, the rear hatch button leaves something to be desired, probably will get the recess kit for that one of these days.
I have never noticed an issue with the door button. I guess I fit the human factors' average human specification. The door button will not open the door while the vehicle is moving. It was designed to be inoperable in a moving vehicle to prevent accidental opening of the door. If an occupant wants to open the vehicle door while moving the mechanical controls on the floor will unlatch the doors.
