Default Soler controller

Has anyone installed the newest Bluetooth enabled controller and not used the display module and went to just using the app?

I’ve seen some install videos, but honestly on YouTube it’s mostly C8 videos.

if you installed did you remove pedal and is there a place to tuck module back behind the carpet? If you didn’t use the display, I’m assuming you need to at least use the display in the beginning to get the pairing code. I’m traveling for work so I can’t go out to the garage and look at the carpet in the car and the controller is sitting in the box as it was delivered to my home yesterday. I hoping to do install this weekend.

any thoughts on install advice appreciated.

Yes, to all.
I haven't used the display at all, other than to pair. I did remove the pedal to have enough room to put the module behind the carpet. I have only made changes via the phone app, and after the first day of playing with settings, haven't changed it since. Took me 10mins to install.

Installing the throttle controller is really very simple and yes, you need to remove the gas pedal to install but that just involves removing one bolt.

I have the display mounted on the side of the console tunnel (held on by Velcro) but once paired to your phone, you can put it away out of sight.

I installed one on my 2019. I did remove the pedal to make it easier to hide the module and get my big hands in place to remove the connector. It was very easy. I used the display for pairing it to my Pixel 6 Pro phone and then disconnected it and used the app. You have to use the app anyway if you want to use the feature that disables the accelerator for theft protection. After a month or so I had to replace my phone with a Pixel 7 Pro. I paired the new phone and after that I was unable to use the app unless the display was connected. With the display connected the app worked perfectly, disconnect the display and the app wouldn't work. I called Solar and talked to a couple of different people. The first said that was a known issues and they hadn't found a solution yet. He said they would send a new unit and I should send the old one back after I installed the new one. He wanted me to put a note in the return box stating if the replacement had solved the issue. The replacement didn't come so after two weeks I called again and talked to a different person. She said I had to send the first one back before they would ship the replacement. After all that, the replacement arrived after I had put the car into winter storage. I plan to install it in the spring. I did really like the controller but I didn't want to use the display.

I've installed the new bluetooth version after upgrading from the old one. No need to remove the pedal. I had problems with the old version throwing codes and going into limp mode. I had to disconnect it a few times and never removed the pedal. I still have the new display connected on the dash but usually use the app...

This is an interesting issue. Thanks for posting. I hope you post an update after you've installed the replacement.

I'll try to remember to make a post. It will still be a couple of months before it sees the road.

Installed and working. If anyone needs info I can help.

tight space yes. Throttle pedal clip hard to unclip until you realize you have to push down on the flat part of the harness clip. Trim piece on drivers side of center counsel is easy to get off, start in the middle and work your way back towards the rear of the car. Once all the clips are disengaged. You can to the front clip by pulling out and back towards the rear of the car. Putting it back in start at the front and slide it forward as there is a little hook on that end that goes in first and once you do that the clips line up all the way down. I mounted my display unit in the center counsel area between the cigarette type of plug and the usb port connector. I removed the USB connector from the center counsel. It takes a bit to work it free from the square hole. There is not a lot of extra wire with it so you can only pull it out maybe an inch. I used a zip tie taped to the display wire connector to fish it through to the usb square hole. I used a drill bit to create a half circle groove for the display wire connector to sit in and provide clearance for the usb plug to be able to slide back into place. The display wire is just long enough to connect the display in the area of the center counsel between the usb and cigarette lighter type connector in the center counsel. Peel off sticky tape and attach. Perfect location. I have one of those usb plug in devices that allows you to wirelessly connect you CarPlay from your phone which I mounted using one of the pro clip phone holders. I have a super short cord coming up to it to charge it. It’s actually a pretty slick set up. Anyway I can’t of course do two blue tooth devices connected at the same time. So I do have the Soler app on my phone, but the CarPlay wireless adapter takes over and auto connects when I start the car. I wasn’t going to mount the display, but the competing need for wireless car play and Soler app forced me to just mount the display. I’m kind of glad I did anyway as the install looks pretty sweet and hidden away out of sight until you open the center counsel. I will take a picture and upload it after I post this so you can see the location and the wireless CarPlay which I highly recommend. I have learned so many install stuff from this forum. I just did the blend mount and wire tap power for the radar detector. That was way easier than I thought, and once again I knew what tap wire went where based on researching on here. This place is not only fun, but educational…who would have guessed 😂. Pictures coming soon.

Glad you got it in! How do you like it?

I don't have a problem running all at the same time. In fact after we installed ours, my buddy and I were on the phone (connected to the car) and making changes and commenting.

Ok so it’s as advertised. It does feel pretty good at sport 6. Easy install for the results. Car feels like it’s getting after it. Before it felt a little boggy low end, unless you pushed pedal noticeably, now light pedal and she is getting after it. I like.
