Here in California, gas is expensive. While at the gas station, I noticed the E85 stuff. It was cheap. Now I'm sure many of you will poo-poo it but is it generally save to use with a C7?
Can't help you. The only thing I've put in any of my 6 'Vettes has been Mobil 93 - I figure if I can afford the car, I should treat it the best that I can.

You'll need to install a flex fuel sensor and have the car tuned to use it. With the sensor and the tune, it's safe to use and you pick up a little power.
Gas mileage goes down with E85 so that offsets some of the savings.
Being that your in Cali its not going to be an option for you as it requires a tune and a flex fuel sensor. The tune calibration will trip you up when emissions roll around. As others have stated above, any fuel cost you saved would be ate right back up in loss of MPG... e85 requires way more fuel to burn at the same energy as 93.
What I have found on my E85 tuned vehicles is about a 30% reduction in fuel mileage from 93. Basically the price of E85 has to be 30% lower than 93 to break even (however there are vast power gains with e85). So far 93 hasn't dropped enough in price for me for me to switch back.
