Default Aperture panel removal

Has anyone ever successfully removed an aperture panel without damaging it? I am doing a widebody conversion on my stingray and found some panels for sale but they are still mounted on the frame. Is there a safe way to remove them?

I'm not trying to be disrespectful here, but in the end would it not be better to sell the Stingray and to purchase an authentic wide body, GS/Z06.
It takes quite a lot of money and time for a conversion to ultimately still own a Stingray Corvette that can never be completed to a legitimate wide body Corvette.

Not rude at all. I have spent over 50k on performance mods on this stingray and honestly like building them the way I want. I wanted to start with a base stingray and just build here and there. I have all the parts to do a widebody conversion but the aperture panels. I found some but they are still attached to the frame. I can get them for a really good price but not sure if I could remove them without damaging them. I like a challenge so I may just buy them and attempt it. Maybe document it for others to see if it can be done.

I seriously thought about buying those but I was worried about them being a good fit with the panels and such.

I do not recall seeing any post were that panel has been removed without some damage. If you try it, best of luck and hope that you can get the panel off the frame.

I think it would be impossible to remove the aperture panels without damaging them. I used a combination of cutting wheel, multi-tool and heat gun to get mine off. Took many hours too.

I am thinking the same thing. I followed your conversion and you did an awesome job! Helped me make the decision to do it myself.

Well thanks man. I really appreciate that.👊🏼 I too heard comments along the lines of "Why not trade for a Z06/GS?" My decision was a combination of financial and sentimental value. Have fun and good luck with your mod. It's definitely worth it. Make sure you post your work.
