I change my oil and filter every 12 months.
I want to use a PF64 (again) in my next oil filter change for my 2019 GS.
Last oil filter thread in Corvette Forum that I saw gave the "latest" product number for PF64 as 12706595 (in 2022.)
I purchased a PF64 filter this week but the product number is 25206966.
I know AC Delco has changed product numbers before... So, is this '966 filter the latest version?
OK to use in my C7 ?
I did my first oil change on my Stingay a few months after I bought it and to my shock, it had a Mopar oil filter on it. Wrong threads and wrong bypass valve setting. ACDelco/GM has changed the PF64 part number multiple times over the years. The number changes are usually due to:
• supplier changes
• minor design updates
• manufacturing revisions / traceability
Good that you are sticking with AC/Delco, which has a bypass valve setting of 22 psi. Others such Fram, Bosch, Mobil and K&N direct oil away from the filter at a lower psi, meaning oil doesn’t get filtered as well.
NAPA Gold and Wix are closer in bypass valve settings if you cannot find an AC/Delco. I have had to go to a Chevy dealer to get the PF64. It is used in a variety of GM car, even four cylinder engines.
I know that a lot of people will only ever use the AC Delco oil filter, but you need to do some research to see that it's not really the best choice for our cars. You are much better off with a Carquest Premium or NAPA Gold or O'Reilly's Microgard Select (these are all the same exact filter by the way)

You are not correct. They have to be 22 psi bypass pressure. WIX is a great filter.
(Here is where **** gets screwed up. I looked up the NAPA GOLD filter for the C7, 100290. NO NOT USE THIS FILTER!!!!!!! It has a 10 PSI bypass pressure. OOPS not true. It does have 22 psi bypass pressure.)
Carquest 95140 also DOES NOT have the correct bypass pressure.
These cars are designed with a variable pressure oil pump. You MUST use the correct filter.
Just because it screws on to the engine, doesn't make it correct.
And the NAPA Gold now is not the same as the Gold from a few years ago. A local engine builder I used for my race engine machine work and the local NAPA counter guy both confirmed this. The confusing part is, I thought the "old" NAPA Gold was a Wix filter with NAPA name and black paint? So the current Wix is the correct 22psi but the current NAPA is not? I use the AC Delco PF64 regardless anyway.
OOOOH! I am wrong about the NAPA GOLD 100290. Not sure now, where I saw that info. Probably old AI info! It does in fact have the required 22 psi bypass pressure now. Sorry.
The WIX, NAPA, and PF64 are all good choices.
But I still think the AMSOIL filter is not correct.
The Carquest Premium has the correct bypass setting too, as it is identical to the NAPA Gold (so is the Microgard Select) All of those are made by Premium Guard and they filter out 99% of particles at 20 microns (that's a lot better than the AC Delco which is closer to 99% at 30-35 microns.
I wonder what the difference is, between 35 micron's and 20 micron's? Besides 15 microns,,,,,
Over the course of the life of your vehicle it's quite significant actually. The more particles you can filter out, the lower your engine wear will be. That being said, for a lot of guys on here who don't even drive 5000 miles a year, they'll never wear out their engine. But for those who plan on driving the wheels off their car (like me, who will never sell my car) it will help them get there. And these better filters aren't even expensive either, depending on which one you get and where you get it, you'll generally find them well under $10. I get my Carquest Premium from the Carquest across the road from my condo and it only costs $10 Canadian ($7.28 US)
Just to add to the confusion. I did my once a year change this weekend and I could have sworn that I had an extra PF64 laying around as I usually buy a few at a time. Get the car up in the air and found I had no filter. I run to the local chevy dealer and ask for the PF64. They said due to a change in manufacturer, the PF64 is now the PF64A. It's a black case instead of blue and I was assured that it's the same bypass pressure as the old PF64.
Geeeez. This wont confuse people! Another change to the PF64. It does seem to be the correct filter with 22 psi bypass. Maybe it's an upgraded copy of the WIX filter.

It actually felt heavier in my hand than the old one. But that could be my cynical self...
Next time you are at a store that carries PF64 plus other brands do this. Pick up the PF64 in one hand and the equivalent Mobil1 (M1-114A) in the other. Note the weight difference. I use the Mobil1.
