If I could I'd add the "low style" ZR1 wing. (picture after)

The wing I like:

We are 100% going to agree to disagree that M/E requires overstyling to look good. ALL sports cars look better with understated bits/pieces. That's why the base C6 design will always look better than any C7 to me. That's why the body color trim on a C8 will always look better than carbon flash to me.

There is no way in hell a stock 296 GTB looks like "***" because it lacks all kinds of gaudy racing air-dams, strakes, fins, dive planes, etc.

p.s.
My C8 doesn't get parked for the winter. Took it to work 3x this week. I'd do that even if there was 6" of snow on the ground. I'd be fearing for my life to do that in a C7.

FWIW, All C7's but the ZR1 had body color as an option. Just like the C8. The E-Ray is the only one to have it standard. It's a $550 option (or was on the C7), chump change. The only parts not body color are the same as the C8, the splitter, rockers, lower rear valence and on some models the wing. Not sure why the color contrasting vents you're stuck on. I don't like them either, its why I waited for the body color option. The C7, looks OK without a splitter, rockers, or a wing. The C8, not so much. That's what I mean by full-race car. The C8 also needs carbon fiber wheels, because I can't get chrome and anything but machine faced (which is I think only an option on base) is disgusting. I hate black, and standard silver alloy wheels. Boring and gross.

As an aside for the dig there about winter driving: I drove a 2006 GTO in the winter, with winter tires. GTO's don't have ESC let alone AWD. It was fine, I'm not a wimp. I even drove it in the deep stuff (I had a collapsable shovel in the back if I got stuck). IMHO, AWD doesn't do as much as good winter tires in my experience. 4x4 is another story, especially with locking diffs. If you have that and winter tires, near invincibility. Even with "all weather" (so 3PMSF) you are almost up to near invincible level. My Bronco is a tank, my Ranger is a tank light as it lacks the front locking diff and has slightly less ground clearance.

Most people park their C7's not because we can't drive them in the winter. I could, but why? It's pointless to, it's not me I'm worried about its other morons who will hit my car. Oh and all-season tires, not putting them on my car.

As far as Ferrari, I'd go with a 599 GTB Fiorano, F12berlinetta, 812 Superfast, or 12Cilindri over 296 GTB which looks stupid just as the 458, 488, and F8 looked stupid before. If you want to go back to posters in college I had a 599 GTB Fiorano on the wall, and its still in a frame in my basement.

One is available with a manual transmission and one is not. That made the decision pretty easy for me.

The same tires on the C6 pic are used on our C7 during cold weather. I just try to stay out of the salt, which usually means staying out of the snow.

Default Oh well...

In an earlier post I mentioned I was visiting my friend who has a nice C8 (2023 }. We were looking forward to taking pics our Vettes side by side but it was not to be. He recently swerved off the road to the right to avoid hitting a dog that ran in front of him and he managed to miss the dog but found a large rock that took out a bunch of his front end and damaged the passenger door. When we arrived he had completed all of the repairs but it was in the shop for the repainting of the door...damn, that would've been a great pic. They are both Arctic White his with bold black accent stripes and my 2017 nicely pinstriped so here are a couple ofolder pics though not side by side.

Don't get me started on the people who buy them, the "rich guys" who own the McLarens, the Lambos, the Ferraris if you say, that's cool I'd rather have an Aston, the vitriol throw at you shows the insecurity of their purchase (and I've experienced this first hand). A lot of those folks are "status chasers" they buy them because they think it "makes them cool". No thanks. I don't need a car to impress people, I buy it because I like it. I feel the C8 chases a customer who is less secure in who they are, which is why its more popular. In fact a lot of things sold in the luxury space are done so out of pure status. I get "rich people" have nothing else to do with their money so they make up arbitrary competitions. I just don't think anyone else should be subject to them or care.

Mid-engine as race cars, fine, but I'm not driving a race car. Unless I am, then it needs to be fully ridiculous, as I said. Sure they go faster on track, but are we driving on a track? At some point, you need to be slightly practical. If I can't use it to do "car things" then its "status" means nothing to me. I look at most of the status chasers as idiots.
hahahahaha thats a great rant from your stereotypical pompous vette owner. A c8 chases people who are less secure about who they are. Christ alive your the life of the party. Cool story tho. If anyone is insecure id say all signs point to you. Who cares what others drive , like , dont like. You have some soul searching to do little feller .

To really be sure what sort of people C8s chase, it might take more than just forum reads. I heard a lot about Vette owners compensating for a small weiner. I often wonder how they discovered that "fact". I'm not sure if psychoanalysis can be done with casual observation or forum posts though.
