I just bought this car (2017 Grand Sport) as a Certified Pre-Owned from a Chevrolet dealer a month ago and now I am anxiously awaiting to hear how much this repair is going to cost. $300? $3,000?
@JLSuperfly If you don't use your Range, I would be happy to buy it from you!
2 things.
1. $300 or 15000, who cares? Not your money.
2. The more, the merrier. More things replaced, less old parts left behind.
I'm not sure why your Corvette Club members advised you to not use it, but after your repair (which I hope is covered by your car being CPO), I'll bet you'll think again about using the Range!
The Range AFM Disabler has been top of mind for me lately.
I have been contemplating getting it to prevent lifter issues for a couple a weeks now but waited to talk to some Corvette owners at a local Corvette Club I just joined. I talked to 3 C7 owners about this and each said it is not necessary and they don't worry about it. Then as fate would have it, the check engine light comes on during my drive home from the Corvette Club meet up!
So I go to Autozone for an immediate OBD scan and it comes out P12F0 - Cylinder Deactivation Exhaust Flow Valve Stuck Open Bank 1.
I guess I will find out next week when the dealer runs its diagnostics but I can't help but wonder if I had the the Range, would this have been prevented???

Ugh. Maybe the club owners had manual C7s?
Mine has been plugged in since we got the used A8 C7 almost 3 years ago. We have one in the Silverado too...I wish you the best of luck on what the dealership tells you. Keep us posted.

Maybe because programming achieves more for a bit more?
I plug in my Range device before I start her up. At the end of the day after shutting off the engine for the last time I unplug it and lay it by my shifter. This reminds me to plug it in before I take her out. Does anyone leave their Range device plugged in all the time. I always put her on the trickle charger after every drive.
When my wife had a 2019 Stingray with the A8, we bought a Range AFM device and left it plugged in all the time. No issues at all. My 2017 I had was an M7, so the V4 situation was never an issue. I never drove the car in "ECO" model.. Generally, I left in "SPORT" mode. It's not a Prius and is supposed to be a V8. LOL!

I have had the Range on both of my C7's. My current C7 is a M7. but if I take a trip and want the car in another mode, it is nice to know the engine will not go into 4-cylinder mode. I drive my C7 every day, so mine stays plugged in all the time.
