Whenever the car is cold (first thing in the morning) and I put it in gear to back out of the garage it takes a few seconds, and it seems rough when it engages and then once out and, on the street, again it is a hard slam as it engages. Once it is warmed up it seems fine. Any ideas. It is an A8 in case it was not clear.
Even with the triple flush, 1 - 2nd is still a hard shift on my 17 A8.
Read it was a ATF 'drain back' issue but after the first shift all was normal.
Not worth tearing the car apart to fix a one time start up small irritating issue.
I believe GM's fix was to install a check valve (ball bearing) to stop the ATF fluid from draining back.
So after starting the car I just manually shift the trans in and out of 2nd gear a couple of times before driving away and it shifts normal from then on.

Hi, I have a 2015 with about 30K on it and have been having very similar issues. I'm due for a normal service and need to run this by my shop. Have you done anything to address your issues and had any success? Thanks
