I looked in a bunch of trash cans and there is no free cardboard large enough to pack it. Buying cardboard the cheapest I could find was $8. It's just not worth the trouble to spend the time boxing and paying $8 for packaging materials, only to make $7.
My zip code is 95120 and if I package it, dimensions would be 77 x 30 x 5 at 5 lbs just in case you want to see how much it would cost to ship. My guess is that after paying $15 for the splitter, $8 for the cardboard and whatever shipping is it would probably be cheaper to buy one from Chevy.
