Default Any interesting technical infor on the E-Diff?

my own curiosity has had me searching for who makes it, technical drawings, cutaways, etc. is it a Haldex unit? ZF? or has GM done it in house? any interesting info, tech papers, etc would be appreciated.

Neither of the companies you have listed.
Don't think you'll find any drawings.
There are some cutaway pics floating around. Maybe on edmunds? Not sure.
It's a electro-hydraulically actuated wet clutch that allows the car to go from an open diff to a spool in ~ 100 ms.
Fun stuff.

Yes, that first pic however is no eLSD.

I'm wondering how much adjustment of torque transfer the unit has. Does it just fully lock and fully unlock (ON or OFF)? Or can it also continuously vary the amount of torque going to each wheel, like you would find on cars advertised as having torque vectoring?

Well, some people refer to the eLSD as torque vectoring, but that is technically not a correct statement.
With that said, it can be adjusted from fully open to effectively fully locked and anything in between.

Can the ring and pinion ratio be changed on the E-Diff without causing issues with the handling and traction programs?

what sort of aftermarket stuff do you foresee? with it being truly an electronically controlled differential.. theres obvious tuning opportunities there.

also, have any better pictures of the differential?

That is a good question.
The eLSD is independent of the gearing, meaning mechanically it wouldn't get in the way of changing the rear end gears. As to the impact on the vehicle controller, I'm not sure.

I don't have any pics, sorry.
As far as aftermarket goes, there are a few things I could think of. As to whether or not anyone is working on any - I don't know.
What would be technically possible at least, that I could see being entertaining, would be a spool mode for the drag strip or general hooning. Also, a drift mode would be nice .

you wouldnt need a mode per say but better sensors or controllers and even internal bits that allow more clamping pressure and such so when it locks it can go from general hooning to dragstrip to road course and more than GM intended in better form than before.

that said.. i think the clutch packs will be the first physical bits.

Doubt that. I think the existing hardware can do all we would want it to do, just a matter of programming it.
