Kevin's 441 was within 1mph(159+) from modded Z06s at this year's
Chicago WGF 1/2 mile run. Al's also. Bob Gs 427 didn't run.
Should be interesting at this next year's event.

Can't wait to get my Indiana Antique license plates next year.
Why are you comparing modified lt5 engines to stock lt1?
Then when you compare stock vs stock it's a car triple in price?
I'm illustrating that the potential that was left on the table when GM abandoned the DOHC 5.7L platform. With all due respect to what GM has done with the pushrod technology since, and it is immense, they did so before seeing what would have could have developed in the DOHC platform.
As for the 458, the point there too is an example of the output a modern DOHC platform is capable of; as an illustration of what Corvette might have had under its bonnet had GM not dropped the program. Instead of a pushrod suitable for pickup trucks, we might have had a 1000 hp base Corvette that would be the world beater it was in 1990.
Aw, cmon! Why is it whenever a superior engine platform is demonstrated to one of you died in the wool pushrod forever boys, the argument suddenly switches to "BUT, BUT, BUT... no fair! That costs x amount more than than the pushrod! Hey! Are we talking about coming in first on the world stage, or do they now give the trophy to the second or third place winner because he spent less?

disc0monkey, it is a waste of time to try and discuss facts with dishonest folks...they keep twisting reality.
I've read countless posts of yours. You should be the LAST PERSON to question "Reality", as seemingly you reside in "The Twilight Zone". If facts were family members "Metaphorically Speaking", you would be an orphan...Mark
I'll try and get the this thread back on topic. The F12 is a killer car, but much heavier than the C7. It is made for grand touring. Is it worth 400,000? I guess if you want an exclusive car, then yes. And that V12 sounds unreal.
Do Ferrari engines meet gms durability standards, emissions, and maintenance intervals?
Nope
Pointless comparisons
This isn't 1960 there is no horsepower making issue. Force induction is the absolute future for almost every future sports car. A boosted pushrod 6.2L has more power potential than any GM lawyer and engineer will sign off on.

And if I am not mistaken his car is a automatic. If it were a 6 speed, it would have outrun the modded ZO6s at the 1/2 mile run.
I respect both engines, the LT5 and its dohc design make it butter smooth while delivering big power.
And the pushrod-v8 motor as seen in NASCAR and the latest engines in the Corvettes making amazing power with very good fuel efficiency.
You can postulate all you want but until you drive or ride in a 6 liter V12 and take it to 9000 RPM's and hit the paddle shifter to the next gear it is hard to understand the difference. I love my existing C6 GS and am looking forward to my inbound C7 but nothing compares to a screaming V12 @ 9000 RPM's developing 730 HP. The F12 is not designed to road race. It is a 200+ MPH GT with all the creature comforts and adrenalin rushes money can buy.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
