Default MTI Racing C7 Corvette Coilover Suspension

MTI Racing will be at Road Atlanta attending the NASA event this weekend testing our coilover suspension system on our new C7 Corvette. We will be testing various ride heights to get the optimal setup. Along with testing ride heights we will be using the factory rubber for baseline numbers and then will switch to Hoosier R6 for comparison. As you can see in the pics our C7 coilovers have been installed and the car is sitting a bit lower then factory. Initial ride height and alignment will get done later this week. Stay tuned Monday for test results.

MTI Racing coilover installed on our C7 Corvette.

Hoosier R6 tires installed and ready for Road Atlanta.

Getting ready to adjust ride heights and alignment.

Very interested in comparisons with the hoosiers. I have coilovers on my z06 track car and am glad to see you guys getting the coilovers on the c7. Thanks.

Intersting thread for sure.
Could you share wheel / tire data as well?
I'm sure lots of people would be interested in those specs.

Neat to see OEM C5Z 10.5s with 315s fit so nicely all around. Any rubbing issues on the inner side up front? Did you have to remove any ducting in the rear?

What is the weight difference between your system and the stock components that are removed?

C5Z 10.5s all the way around with a Hoosier R6 315 tire. The tires fit but certainly not well, They will destroy the Brake duct. We have already started engineering a new solution for that. Ill try and get some better pictures of the inner fender today so you can see how close everything is.

The car lost just over 15lbs of sprung\unsprung weight.

Dang, 315s all around, that's got to be a riot.
Can't wait for the track results. I sure hope you'll have some neat video footage!

Are these the same coilovers that were posted on your Facebook page that the lower mounts were 1" too wide for the control arm?

Yes those are the ones we were test fitting....

New mounts in the proper width are being machined on our HAAS CNC.

Thanks for the track video. Rolling up those Porsche's. I love doing that. Was the car on the hoosiers?

Sweet video, looks like a hell of a lot of fun, but it also looks like the car quite badly needs an alignment.

As someone pointed out yesterday the lower mount on the coilovers were to wide, thats because they were actually our C6 mounts. Once we confirmed that everything fit and we made a few measurements our engineer began the design process.

One of the nice parts about having in house engineering as well as full CNC capability is that we can go from an idea to a working prototype very quickly. We should have a working lower mount this afternoon. Ill post pictures as soon as we do.

The mount being modeled, this allows us to run some very complex load simulation as well so we can see how the part is actually stressed even before we start actual testing.

The mount in the machine almost finished with the first cut.

Out of the machine and awaiting a fixture to be made to mount it to so that the rest of it can be machined.

Our driver was pushing hard at the track so that may have given you the impression that it needed an alignment. I can assure you thought the alignment is very close to optimal. We aligned it here and then made adjustments at the track to get it very close to where it needs to be.

Tire temps were all in an acceptable range and pressures were spot on.

Going from the stock alignment to a race alignment netted us nearly 2 seconds at the track.

If you guys run into the Turn10 at the track, make sure you kick 'em in the teeth for not including the C7 in Forza 5

Very cool. It was probably the camera angle. I just thought the wheel looked off barreling down the straights.

How adjustable are the dampers? Infinitely? Rebound and compression? Any plans on doing anything with the MSRC system?

Awesome! A lot of people were saying we wouldn't see any coilovers for the C7. Good job!
