That's exactly why I purchased an Innovative Motorsports OT-2 for my C6. Great little scanner tool for your smart phone that monitors and clears codes along with displaying other diagnostic info.
When I installed my concealed radar and swapped in my FAY carbon fiber dash into my C7, we did it without the car battery disconnected. When I reassembled it, the car through a code as a result of us starting the car to test my radar install while some of the controls (dash and console) were not plugged in. I pulled out my OT-2 and was able to read the code and clear it. Funny thing is that I never even used it on my C6 Z06 but was very glad I had it last week!
