305 rear tires on stock Z51 rims?
Has anyone been running wider tires on stock Z51 rims? If so I'l like to hear comments. I'd like to go 265 front 305 rear and would really rather not put after market wheels on the car. I just don't want to be the guinea pig to find out if it rubs. Advice welcome. Thanks.

The stock wheels aren't wide enough, IMO, for wider tires. They will look balloonish and the handling will become sloppy as the sidewall won't be as well supported. My opinion is that of you want to go wider you need to get a wider wheel.
Also, keep in mind that wider is not necessarily better for traction. The PSS tires on a Z51 car have a very grippy and aggressive compound... more aggressive than normal PSS tires which are already great. You could go with a wider tire and find you actually get LESS performance because the rubber compound isn't as good as the OEM tire.

Here are the least expensive custom wheels that I can find:
Oz Superleggera III
Front, 19 x 9.5, 59mm, use 5mm spacer, 265 or 275 tire sizes, $859 each
Rear, 19 x 11, 75mm, 305 tire sizes, $885 each
Rear, 20 x 11, 75mm, 305 tire sizes, $975 each
Or wait for the BBS RS-GT in more sizes:
Front, 18 x 9, 54mm, 255/40-18 tire size, $900 each
Rear, 19 x 10.5, 74mm, 295/35-19 tire size, $1320 each
Or custom order Forgeline wheels are about $1400 each.
And the Cray 2014 line is developing 9.5"/11" wide wheels at the correct wheel offsets. Of course those are lower-end and about $450 each

I had the rear wheels widened on my 2011 CTSV Coupe and put on the Toyo Proxes R888 in 305-30 19. It was a big improvement.
I'm doing the same with my C7. Widen the rears and put on 315-30-20 Toyo Proxes R888s. I measured everything and there should be no issues. There's a good amount of room on the inside.
I'm well over 600 RWHP and the stock tires are just awful.

I have had 5 sets of CCW's now, and they have become my first and last stop for custom wheels.

They will handle 600rwhp a whole lot better than any standard street tire will. Just be prepared for the tread wear. Toyo does also have an awesome drag radial (Proxes TQ), but they do not have a 20" fitment yet. The R888 is technically an autocross tire.

How about:
275/35-18 front, 25.6" diameter, 3.7" sidewall, 9.5" wheel width
305/35-18 rear, 26.4" diameter, 4.2" sidewall, 11" wheel width
Throw on some Toyo R888s, they might even fit the inexpensive C5Z06 18x10.5 wheels.

All great suggestions above, if you track I recommend CCW with Toyo proxies R888
CCW $700 each for custom wheels
My set up for C7 Z51
Front 18/10 r888 295's
Rear 19/12 r888 325's
No rubbing handles like a race car and it's much cheaper than slicks
