Default C7 fender liners?

Got a question I haven't seen addressed yet. I would consider it technical. My car is in my foreseeable future, it just turned 3400. My question deals with the wheel wells. The one I looked at at the dealership had what looked like felt pads glued to the inside of the fenders, above the wheels. It looks like sound deadening insulation. It doesn't make any sense to me. How in the world are we supposed to keep that stuff clean, we can't have all sunny days, especially in New York State.

Not to worry. I had the same concern, but after driving my C7 for 6 months, I have no problem keeping them clean. Mud, etc., just hoses right off.

My Porsche uses the same stuff. Easy to keep clean. Looks better also because it doesn't dull like plastic either.

I don't necessarily want to keep the wheel wells clean. Did that in the past, waste of time and cuts into driving time. Kept my 2006 C6 longer than I planned because of the recession. The car looked virtually like new at 12,500 miles and depreciated $30,000. So this time around the car will have many more miles and will not be quite as pristine. If I am going to pay, I'm going to play!
