I know that someone will direct me to the proper page in the manual but I have looked and cannot find and answer to this question.
How can I make the exhaust tone sound like it does when first started up after sitting over night for all the day? It is fantastic but it goes away after a short warm up and during the normal day does not return even at start up. I want it to stay on all the time. Most probably due to position of the many exhaust system valves and mixture settings but can it be set or modified to keep that same fantastic tone all the time??
you can not make it sound as loud as it does at a cold start all the time.
Exactly. You're hearing the higher idle and different valve timing at a cold start. As the car warms up, the ECU adjusts timing and drops rpm to a smooth idle.
So, long story short, you can't keep it sounding like this without having a problem. The change in intake / exhaust timing is what's making the sound you always want to hear 'go away'.
Thank you for the excellent explanation. I may have to purchase an exhaust system that gives me more of the sound I want.

You can search on here for my Corsa videos. And I do have a video with an engineer from Corsa explaining this...... but it is a fact that as hot gases hit cold metal the noise is louder. It takes my Corsa system maybe no more then 20 25 seconds to go from very very loud to just very loud.
In fact I idle in my garage in the morning with the door down until it mellows down. I'm sure the neighbors appreciate it at 6:30.
Maybe what you are looking for is turning the exhaust control "off" that makes it loud all the time, although not as loud as startup. Not sure where it is explained in the manual. At start up there is zero vacuum so valves are open.
I pulled fuss #41 from the fuss box on the passenger side under the hood. My exhaust sounds grate all the time even below 1700 rpm. Ive drove the car and put over 250 miles on it with no check engine light. But that if you have the performance exhaust system
I've been temped a couple times to do it for a minute or two, but I leave for work about 2:45am.
Then again, screw my neighbors, I hear them at times.
Well I think 20 30 seconds with the windows up is no big deal. I'm not going to try this but I heard on click and clack with the emissions systems on modern cars they do not produce enough CO2 to kill ya. Again not going to validate this!!!

After reading this post I did the same to me C7. You are correct, the exhaust stays open all the time and, so far, I see no drawback.

Can someone post video of what the exhaust sounds like with the fuse pulled. Think I'll be doing this when I get mine in a few weeks.
