Backfiring in between gears?

Backfiring in between gears?
Hi all, I'm a new C7 owner. Question, when pushing the car at high RPM's and switching gears, I hear what sounds like backfiring or something from the exhaust (GM performance exhaust). I hear it's normal but wanted to check if anyone else has had this?

auto or manual trans? auto will cut timing for the shift. manual is just normal airflow sounds.
a back fire is when it fires backwards. combustion in the intake manifold. I don't think anyone has heard a true backfire on a new car in many many years. that's when you have a carburator, normally, and the EPA makes you run a fire suppressing air filter. ain't technology grand?
