Default High DA

Heading to track tomorrow evening. DA is expected to be 7000+. Car is a bone stock auto on 91 pump gas. Expected time? 12.5-12.7? Anything I can do to overcome high DA? Getting a baseline before I send car off for a supercharger & headers.

Go to a lower elevation track, thats about it.

There are several DA calculators that are fairly close. 7000' will put you ~7-8 tenths down from sea level.

Bad deal, you’re looking at about 24.5% lower air pressure. Normally aspirated engine can’t help but to loose a lot of power. Don

12.5-12.7 would be lucky. I ran in ~7k da and went 13.0@112-113 in a 7 speed z51.

How did you measure DA? Is the actual altitude 7000'? Santa Fe'? Will the DA be 7000' at the time you run in the evening. You only have 9 or 10 lbs pressure before the butterfly and maybe 19 20"hg. Make sure the car is not run for an hour before the run. Start it just before the run. Push it to the tree if possible. Arrive with an empty gas tank and chill 3 to 5 gallons of gas in a container and pour it in the tank just before the run. Airate the gas with pure oxygen if you can. Measure track temp and run as late as possible into the evening. Check wind. Xwind will give you colder air. Launch at higher than normal rpms and shift at redline. Base line at a different DA is pointless even with correction. There will be slightly less drag.
How much tread is there on the tires? Run them at 20"Do a test run without a burn out. I'd rather have cold cylinder heads and intake than hot tires.

Autos Launch better ET wise.

I power shifted every gear and could only manage a 114 trap. Car has no ***** with hot air and elevation on 91 fuel

Yesterday I trapped 111mph in DA of about 6400.

Launch was complete garbage, so I didn't even get into the 12's.

An LS2 GTO I went against only trapped 98mph for reference.

I measured with a DA calculator based on the track. Pressure is 29.70,
Altitude is 3800 and temp is 91 degrees. I am heading to track here in about 30 mins so I will see what they have at the track. I will report back. Friend has a 11 Camaro with bolt ons and headers and ran a
14 sec at 105.
I will add some of the other things mentioned as well and see what I can do. A lot of hanging heads out there in this heat.

Not even breaking 13's at 105mph, just as me not breaking into 12's with a 111mph trap just means we had crappy launches.

This car launches much differently than my Mustang.

I trapped 111 in the vette and ran 13.2
I trapped 118 in my Mustang and ran an 11.6

It's all about traction and launch technique. I'm still finding that spot for the C7.

Btw, launch control on stock tires at the drag strip is worthless. It just spins off the line way too much. Way too high of rpm for a street compound.

Finally ran last night. 13.59 at 106 (came off gas). DA was 6600 ! Launch was horrible on stock tires. I cut a 2.06 60 ft time. Smoked the other guy though at least. I drop off car Monday for supercharger so my only trip to the track stock. Tires and rims are a must. Another Vette hit a 12.7 stock and letting out I would have been a 12.9 or so so still not the best driver either but I had fun.
