ARH Header Install Tricks/ Help

Default ARH Header Install Tricks/ Help

Has anybody documented an install of the LT ARH headers on a Z51. I reached out to Nick as well, but haven't heard anything yet. The shop doing mine isn't a GM shop per say they are a race shop that does a lot of high performance road racers so they do have some knowledge but there must be a lot of native knowledge on this board I could share with them to assist with the installation.

I've read remove the starter and fuse box. Passenger side goes in from the top, driver side goes in from the bottom. Lefty loosey, righty tighty. boom, done.

I've installed a LOT of headers on my car at this point...

If they're 1-3/4" or 1-7/8", they can both easily be installed from below without removing the starter or even the starter shield. They really slip right in - you just have to dodge the occasional wire bundle - nothing huge at all.

I've never gone from the top on the passenger side, but if others have, so be it.

We tried a long time to install the passenger side from the bottom but never could find the right angle. The header would not clear the frame. Anyway, removal of the starter is very easy.

I will say there's just a certain finesse / approach to it - once you do it once, you just have it down to a science.

However, it was probably easier to do it from the top, which actually means yours was most likely a better way.

Mine haven't gone it yet was hoping for step by step instructions, this isn't a GM shop they are more of a Porsche shop but also have done some Vetes'. They run a LMP2 race team out of this shop and build GT3 race cars so they know their stuff.

Needed to remove spark plugs then the exhaust manifold heat shields to gain access to all the manifold bolts.

When installing the new passengers side, had to remove the valve cover. To do that, had to pull the alternator away from the valve cover to get to the front bolt on the calve cover. To do that, had to remove serpentine belt, remove top alternator mount bolt, loosen bottom mount bolt, the pull it way from the valve cover to get to the front valve cover bolt.

We removed the plugs/wires/fuse box/starter & disconnected the negative wire

ARH shipped new cats and O2 spacers. They arrived yesterday and we installed them tonight.

I cleared the codes and drove home about 20 miles. No codes yet but not enough miles to be sure.

ARH responded quickly and let me know what they thought was causing the CEL. So I give them high marks for customer service.
