I am an Arai guy with my motorcycles. They are arguably one of the lightest/most comfortable helmets on the market. I also would wear a full face for a track day in the car. I can't imagine an airbag hitting you in the face would not feel good if it ever happened.
G Force or Simpson for value. Arai for quality. For car, I prefer open face if there is an instructor or a two way radio in the car. An open face is also a little cooler for hot weather. If going solo, I prefer a full face for ultimate safety.
Motorcycle helmets with an M rating are not allowed by many clubs running track days, so I would only by an auto helmet with an SA rating, unless you already know the clubs you run with allow motorcycle helmets.
Light weight is a bonus with helmets, but as in all things light for cars, you have to pay more. I use a kevlar helmet. Make sure you buy one with a new year rating, as many clubs require you to have a helmet with no more than a 10 year old rating. So SA2015 would be best for next year. Also I use a full face, just like every race car driver, almost.
The very best protection you can buy. The old addage " If you have a $5.00 head, buy a $5.00 helmet" has a lot of merrit. Like has been said, open face helmets are cooler and are what most "professionals" wear (more due to the communications equipment, however) but full face helmets provide the greatest protection. IMHO, open face helmets tend to not limit vision as much and are my preference in a closed (coupe) car.
"We have received a number of questions regarding when the next Snell homologation standard will be implemented. The changeover to SA2015 Snell standard will take effect on October 1, 2015. For the balance of the 2014 race season and the majority of the 2015 selling season, the Snell SA2010 standard is and will be the most current standard . No manufacturer is allowed to label or sell a Snell SA2015 homologated helmet prior to October 1, 2015 per the Snell Memorial Foundation."
Full face for protection. You never know when something might come flying through the window, let alone something worse. I use a Bell M-4, fiting an earpiece & mic inside has not been an issue.

LOL , being b!tch slapped by air bag is over rated. Oh Arai is what I prefer too.
