Default Supercharger on a Road Course

I was at Road America this weekend and there was a gentleman there with a Z06 C6 that was supercharged. I have never seen this car make it through an entire two day event without breaking down. He shared with me that the car lasts about 17 minutes on the track before it is just heat soaked and the water temps are too high. He has a DeWitts radiator and a ProCharger system on the car. he said the intercooler partially blocking the radiator was largely responsible for the cooling issues.

My question is are there any systems for the C7 that could stand up to a road course without the same issues?

From what I have seen there is no upgraded radiator either for the C7, I have an SC on my M3 but have ton's of cooling on it to help keep it cool. Just wondering if I should go this route with my car or just stick NA, conversely there was a NA Z06 with cam's and head that is super reliable, he is turning laps at the pace of Porsche Cup Cars.

I am trying to decide how I want to prep the car for the track and maintain reliability.

Procharger has done quite a bit of on-track testing with their setup on the C7, this is likely why they offer two different intercooler setups and specify the horizontal mount for road race guys, but the vertical mount for drag racers. I believe both ECS and A&A only offer the horizontal mount.

A built NA car will never have the complications of controlling heat the way a boosted car has to. But, you very expensively have to make the same amount of horsepower and suffer driveability to reach supercharger power levels. Boost is too easy and relatively inexpensive to make a 200 horsepower increase on a Vette. But, you will inevitably get heat soak no matter how much cooling upgrades you have, you push the car hard enough for longer than 15 to 20 minutes and it's going to have serious heat soak.


For a full on track car, I'd avoid the boost.

Drag racing track is another story. Boost and meth will get you nearly in the 9 second range on an otherwise stock car (plus tires). Then drive home on the freeway getting 30+ mpg.
