Default Z51 stabilizer ???

I was told if I put a supercharger on a base, it will be a "hand full" and will need a Z51 stabilizer. I know the z51 sway bar is thicker than the base and z06 even thicker than z51. Is this the stabilizer I hear I need or is there some other stabilizer in question?

What is the source of this information? The "base" is still a full blown Corvette and can handle the power a supercharger puts out. However, with power adders there is always the next question of: What size wheels can harness this new power? Should I upgrade my clutch? etc...

I was looking to order from Ken Fichtner and he said they did two Edelbrock systems - one on the Z51 and one on the base. He said the base was "a hand full" and required the Z51 stabilizer to tame it. I've been trying to hit him up for more details but he's been swamped and I don't want to be a pest about it. Looking to learn more.

More about my needs. I'll never track the car and don't think I need the Z51 package with the dry sump, electronic posi and the cooler to support it. The larger brakes would be nice but the base brakes are good already - larger wheels/tires would be good but but I think I'll need more than 285's if I go FI. The aero package will be added later with after market and the GM dual mode exhaust is my added option.

So, as I see it, I'll put the $5k in my pocket and enjoy adding a SC and the custom Z06 style aero later.

To my point, the Z51 has slightly thicker sway bars. Is there a unique stabilizer bar I need to look into? I'll also hear any flaws in my approach. This will be a weekend duty car for pleasure rides.

the Z51 sway bar upgrade is a "blind buy" for the base model. Flattens out the driving around corners significantly. What you need to ask yourself is are you looking to use your power for only straight line use? or are you planning to ever really take some corners. If the latter, do the bars. They are the best $300 you can spend on the base if you ask me! here is a link to order them on Gene's new site:

The only way I could see the standard suspension needing more stabilization, in regards to simply adding a supercharger, is the go pedal may be more touchy in corners. It would be easier to put the back end out due to the (over)abundance of power available. But the root cause wouldn't be the suspension, it would be the driver pressing it beyond the limit and using too much throttle. Sway bars would give you more room to play with in the twisties, but the driver is still the main factor.

As stated earlier though, its an easy mod and the return on investment makes it no question at all.

That makes sense then as to what Ken was telling me. These must be front stats

Added Gene's Z51 Sway Bar set to my 2014 ZF1, dealer installed prior to delivery so I have no before or after observations.

Just glad Gene is back offering the turn key kit for under $300

Folks are paying $300 for floor mats. This has to be the best mod folks can do to their non-Z51 Stingrays.

FWIW, I found out that the base C7 does not have a rear sway bar at all. I'll be getting the $300 Z51 kit and A&A V3 kit.

PS. Thanks to the moderators for removing irrelevant derogatory posts.

Hey Gene, Just placed my order for your Z51 sway bars for my 2015 Stingray.

From the Stingray 2015 brochure:
Stabilizer Bar Diameter 26.7 mm 28 mm 30.7 mm

Stingray gets 26.7mm front and NO REAR.
Z51 gets 28mm front (rear ??)
Z06 gets 30.7 front (rear ??)

Can you confirm the kit I ordered has the 28mm front and (rear ??)
fill in the rear if you know?

Just received my kit from Gene and can't wait to get it on after Christmas (gift from my boys 4 & 9 )

The rear will be easy enough. For those that have completed the install is the front a pain to get out and back in?

These are the Z51 bars so the mm would be correct. I haven't measured them.

Yes, and honestly I have no pointers to help out, you just need to work it around a bit. I was still able to do it on ramps without a jack though.

Got the kit today. First let me say this is a good deal. Gene is not making a fortune off these packages. Close to wholesale pricing. To that I say, thanks Gene!

The Front bar is 28mm and the rear is 26.7mm. So the rear Z51 bars must be made from the same stock as the base Corvette fronts.
Everything came well packaged and bagged in bubble wrap inside a big box.

Again, thanks Gene!

I have to say this was very easy to do! However when I pulled the front one out and did a side by side to the base model one I pulled out it looks exactly the same also the part numbers were the same? Did anybody else have the same problem?

Does anyone have the numbers off the Z51 front bar? So I can see if I was sent the wrong one.
