Funny thing is a guy in another thread says his cover just popped off with 5 clips releasing. I have pried as much as I dare on every angle I can get onto the cover and I do not get any signs of a gap starting from the prying. I feel as though I do indeed have a welded cover and the only access would be to drop that entire molding piece. That really sucks! It may be in my best interest to drop that big piece and have a look to see for sure what the hell is going on in there.

We're talking about just the section highlighted in yellow below.. yes?
it should easily pop out with the use of a plastic pry bar.

That's the piece but I'm telling you the cover is welded to part 11 which is the large window trim.

I would not think so...otherwise service could not be done on the OEM PDR camera. Does the replacement part you bought have 4 or five push tabs??

The part I got using my VIN consisted of part #11 with part #20 WELDED on to part #11

I tried to pry part #20 off of my car and I did not get the slightest gap showing ANY easing of the clips grip on the cover.

The part that was ordered for my VIN had part #20 4 tabs with clips sticking though and connected to part #11. The 5th and center tab had NO metal on it sticking into part #11 and the plastic tab had been heated and mushroomed over to NEVER release from the part #11.

I'm trying to say SOME of the 2014 convertibles cannot pry off part #20 (the thing you outlined in yellow)

REMEMBER! I talking about a 2014, not a 2015.

I have a 2014 coupe. Part #20 can not be "welded" to part 11 since you could not service the OEM PDR, or other wiring under part #20,if it was. Unless someone epoxied yours together, you should be able to pry part 20 down. it may require a little more muscle than you want to use.. but it has to be able to pry off.

Will a GoPro 4 Black, a VBOX Sport work together?

Is it better to use Dashware, Race Render, or something else to combine the VBOX and GoPro info?

I don't have a PDR to service. I agree on the 2015s but not on the 2014s.

Your diagram even shows clip(s) #24 hold part #20 to part #11.

Yes, I again agree with you BUT I held the part in my hands at the dealer. The parts department ordered part #20 for me using my VIN. The only way to get part #20 using my VIN was to get part #11 with part #20 affixed PERMANENTLY to part #11. The attachment consisted of 4 clips and the fifth attachment was a mushroom of melted plastic that WAS the 5th plastic tab. If my car has the same configuration, then my center rear tab is a melted glob of plastic that will NOT allow me to pull part #20 off of part #11 without breaking something.

Apparently not all cars are that way. Even if I go in and use the coupes "drawing" where I can select #20 and put it in the "cart" and buy it for $33, I will not be able to use it unless I remove part #11 from my car and carefully remove the melted mushroom of plastic to release part #20 from part #11. I would then be able to use the new part #20 with the 5 clips to pop it on and off of part #11.

So far, no one has ran into this issue and that is why I made my warning post. Prying with enough force to get 20 off of 11 will break one or both of those pieces of molding.

The owner's manual has errors (How much oil in the Z51 system?). Every Helms manual that I have ever owned (MANY) has had errors (especially torque figures)and those manuals are supposed to be the technical manuals for the car. The pictures you are looking at have an error. The parts picture for the convertibles with (apparently a specific range of VIN numbers) appears to have an error. Part 20 should be affixed to part #11.

Elmer

Well... That really sucks......

I would do what you suggest when you replace part #11. I would remove the melted mushroom of plastic to release part #20 from part #11 before re-installing.. so in the future you can pop out part #20 easily without having to take off #11 also. My VIN is 1459... maybe just later VINs or convertible have your style parts.

I have the PDR but, still use a GoPro 4 Black with external (Rode) mic for better results.
