And, as I understand it, installing the 2015 PDR system is a no-go.
So, what after-market video camera would compare with the one
from the PDR ?
And, how/where would I mount it?
And, how about encompassing measurements of speed, rpm, g-force, etc., etc. ?
I bought this dash cam on amazon because it had a motion sensor. I was driving to a buddies golf trip and wasn't that comfortable leaving my new ride in the parking ramp. It was very cheap and the video is good.
The good:
It was cheap
It came with a long cord so that it can be plugged into the trunk outlet.
Good quality video
Motion sensor
It is very small and mounts behind the rear view mirror.
The not so good:
The instructions are terrible. You need to mess with it for an hour to figure it out.
No speed, GPS, or other car data
Zeegs,
Thanks for the info... looks good.
I wonder if we can tap into the mirror electronics for power.
Nutzzzzz,
more info please... (name, model, where available (link if possible), etc., etc.))

I have a GoPro mounted to the shark bar harness bar between the seats, and an iphone 6 running Track Addict app that controls the gopro and also pics up data from the go point BT1 OBDII sending speed, g's etc to the track addict video via blue tooth. Track addict uses WiFi to control the GoPro so you need to use a OBDII sender that
uses Blue Tooth, not WiFi The iphone is mounted to a Ram suction mount with iphone holder attachment. It all starts running when you
reach 10mph on the track, Track addict uses GPS and has various tracks loaded as well, and once you mark the start/finish line, it keeps track of that for timing purposes. Everything can be powered by mini usb cords so batteries not a problem. (GoPro with WiFi running is esp
hard on it's battery.
JwBert,
I had my camera mounted (in my C6) to my rollbar, but that
made the viewing area difficult, because it was so far back that
it included much of the dash and windshield surround.
So I am looking for something that mounts to the windshield, in front of the mirror.

Elmer,
looks great.
How did you provide the 12v for your V1 ?
Ran a line down to the console and hooked it up to the cigarette plug in the console.

I catch the up front stuff with the forward camera in the iphone and the gopro being so wide angle catches hand work and so forth inside the car. Work for me.

And a sample of video taken, if possible.
Thanks
It required me taking the camera housing off and cutting a little inside the housing part. I ran power straight back to the fuse block.
Not my car but here's a sample video. It's 10x better than the PDR.
Now, if I can use a camera recommended by others above,
(not the iPhone camera) with Harry's software
on my iphone, with an external GPS (as recommended by Harry),
and an OBD II plug/dongle (as recommended by Harry),
this might be a great solution.
Harry's software is $20.
A better GPS is about $150,
an OBD II dongle is about $100,
and a "better" camera is about $150. (I prefer the small tubular ones).
If I can make this all work with Harry's software.... whoo boy.
Well PDR retrofit is definitely possible as we've supplied the custom programming to make it happen for a 14 however it IS considerably expensive from what the customer told us. I guess it depends on how bad you want it?

To how expensive and does it log all ecu data to be seen on cosworth program?
I have that one and it is mounted just in front of my C7 mirror with felcro for easy removal and use also in my DD. It is great, small and can take at least a 32 GB Mini SD card. I think without that card there is 8 GB internal.
Love using the 1080p resolution (1296p possible) there is another model that has GPS. Look here:
