Default Heated Seats ... Not so much

In my C6 the heated seats were hot in just a few minutes. Like I had to turn them off high. My 2015 heated seat take forever to heat up ... not even totally sure that they are working. Any one else with a 2015 experience slow heating with the heated seats? Just wondering if it is "normal" ... like they dialed down the heat on purpose? Or are mine not working correctly?

They are all like that. My 2015 2500HD is like that. GM heated seats are not too good these days.

I drive 12 miles/20 minutes to work. I put it on 3 bars when leaving and have to turn it down or off before I get to work as it gets too hot. This is with high 20F ambient.

In my 14 with standard seats, my seats it took at least 20 minutes to get too hot before I turned them off. Ventilated seats didn't seem to work very good after the first minute or two.

My 15 with Suede Comp seats get too hot after about 10 minutes and my ventilated seats work all the time.

Don't really know the real reason for the difference but...

As Robert mentioned, all the new cars don't work as well.

My 10' Denali seats would feel like they are going to catch fire after 5 minutes. And the cooled seats worked well.

My 15' Denali seats take some 15 minutes before getting hot. Cooled seats don't work well after 5 minutes.

GM Needs new seat engineers. LOL

If it's cold enough that I have to use the heated seats then I warm up the car anyways so it's kinda useless to have the heated seats (yes I think they don't get hot enough).

The cooling function works great.

Yeah I really like the cooling function as well, but compared to my last couple BMWs, the heated seats are pretty week.

I noticed the same thing you did yesterday in my new 2015. The seats seem to take a long time to heat up. On the flip side, I love the ventilation function!

My 2015 C7 is the first car ever that has heated/vented seats. Takes driving 4-5 miles (around 8 minutes) with the heat set to 3 bars to wanting to shut them off as they are hot enough. Outside temp was
20F when I started my drive this morning.

I've got two other cars that have heated, but not ventilated seats. They do heat up much faster than the C7, but I think it's because the C7 seats have more space between the heating pads and the surface of the seat due to the need to be able to have airflow in there for the ventilated function. I may be wrong, but it makes sense to me. It doesn't bother me though.

I wondered if it was just me as well. Seems like it takes forever fir them to heat up. In my 2011 I had to either turn them down or off in just a few mins and now I almost am never sure that they are working at all.

Ernest_T, you need to get you one. I find not too many C7 owners buy the chrome wheels.

BTW my Z's heated seats seem to be getting warmer a little better as I put some miles/run time on her. IDK maybe I'm crazy.

A lot of OEM's had to turn down the heated seats, due to liability reasons.

I think BMW's took the load of that, when people were claiming it was melting their pants. Some had the seat foam catch on fire when there was a short in the heating pad in the seat, and other issues.

I love seat heaters, so these "slow cookers" bum me out.

My 07 escalade will warm my butt before I get out of my subdivision! I tried my 2014 yesterday and I didn't think they were working. I have the competition seat upgrade but this is pretty bad!

The last two GM vehicles I had with microfiber inserts (C7 and CTS-V) heated more than the others with leather (CTS and Acadia).

My former C6 & current BMW seats heat up very quickly. My 2016 C7 just barely gets luke warm at the highest setting. I wasn't even sure they were working at all.
