They are doing the Cam and Head swap and sent me some pictures. As I look at the first port it looks to me like exhaust is potentially leaking from the first runner. I re-used the stock gaskets when I had them installed. Or is this normal?

I agree it's a leak. Ask if the bolt was loose when they undid it. If so try a new gasket and locking bolts. Inspect the header for flatness with a straight edge, if it's not flat, return it or have it trued or you can use a thicker gasket. There may be copper or dead soft aluminum gaskets that will hold up better.

I did all of the above on my F-body with cheapo pacesetter headers. It's why I went with ARH this time. Good luck.

I believe those are ARH........

Perhaps he could have used the ARH gaskets that were supplied with the headers instead of using GM stock gaskets.......?

Looks like a minor leak, just use new gaskets this time around.

ARH is sending me their gaskets for install, the installer that did the initial install didn't want to use them he thought they would leak, so he re-used the stock gaskets.

Hopefully this will solve the issue.

Good luck. The stock gasket has metal on it (below) and the ones I got from ARH didn't so I didn't use them.

Nick at ARH was pretty confident that I use theirs but I have had two people tell me they wouldn't use anything but stock.

Leadville, mind telling us more about the heads/cam you are going with? I am putting my 14' under the knife in a month or so, and would like to see what kind of results people are getting. Seems like heads/cam/LT's will net 600-630 crank HP pretty easily... Tks, Doug

I am putting in the Texas Speed package, DOD Delete, VVT II Cam with Ported and Polished heads, De Witts Radiator, 170 Degree Thermostat, C7-R Racing Timing Chain, ATI Damper, Ported TB and a Custom Tune.

I also am putting on the Wilwood 4 Wheel brake kit, this car is going to be my road course car.

We re-used the stock gaskets when we installed headers on both of my G8's with great results. Haven't had to re-tighten the bolts yet in 4 years! Just cleaned them up and used a quality gasket sealant when installing.

NICE, I assume you jumped on the special price??? I PMed Jason this morning and I believe I am going to do the same package. Those heads are killer, did you get them milled any?? What size cam did you go with. Those power goals should be easy to hit.

Doing my own custom cam on the deal if I can, be roughly the same size as a Ls9/Zr1 cam.

ALWAYS use new header gaskets, just use the factory bolts they will be fine.
Haven't used the stage 8 locking header bolts since SBC's

It is on it's way to my installer right now. They are installing all my upgrades at once. Brakes, Head/Cam kit etc.
