9500IX "Reset Power"
Installed the 9500IX with the mirror tap cord about a month ago.
The unit powers fine every time, but every now and then the unit reads "RESET POWER". I just simply disconnect the power connection and plug it back in and it's fine for a while.
My gut points me to the mirror tap wire not having a good connection, but there is no consistency to when it needs a power reset. It's not when I hit a bump or anything that I would think would lead to a faulty connection.
In reading about this on the Escort forums it sounds like the 9500IX is sensitive to power fluctuations or it could be faulty. I keep the car on a battery tender when it's sitting so the battery is fine.
Anyone have similar issues at all with the 9500 IX and mirror tap?
Thanks

What has me thinking though is I bought the 9500IX used...and the more I read about this it is either a connection issue, or the unit has a problem.....

I installed my mirror tap connectors a couple days ago. When I re-positioned the cover, the ground wire tap came loose. I would make sure they are pushed in all the way.. Check twice. Nice thing about the mirror tap is that it is hooked up to the ignition (purple positive wire) and turns off with car.

Never had a problem with C6's or C7's
I installed the mirror taps on both of our C6's and C7's and never had a problem as you described, but I used a tie-wrap to secure the tap wire to the mirror wires. This is a strain relief for the connection! I suspect a loose wire is the issue!

I agree...But it is so random...it actually hasn't done it in a while.

If you gut is telling you that it is still a problem
If your gut is telling you that it is still a problem, then it probably will happen again! I hope not, and that all is well with your Vette! At least you have some possible corrective actions from the experienced folks on the forum!

Hey everyone. Sorry to bring back and old thread here, but I wanted to let you know I found the problem. I borrowed a buddy of mines 9500IX for a little troubleshooting exercise and of course his unit never did the "power reset". So, this proved to me that it wasn't my wire tap to the rear view.
So I downloaded the Escort software tool and tried to USB into my unit and possibly check the software version and update it. My unit would not communicate via USB, and of course my buddys would.
So, did a little bit more research and found that the unit has a blown fuse that protects it on the USB port...I then made a call to Escort to see what my options were. They indicated that if the unit has ANY hardware failure (including a blown fuse) it will go into power reset mode after 15 minutes of being powered up. Also...units that have a serial number beginning in 33 are notorious for the protective fuse on the USB blowing. Of course mine begins in 33.
Long story short I sent it off to them to get repaired. The cost is $139.99 which includes too and from shipping, full refurbish, and a 1 year warranty. I bought the unit used and it did this from day one...Live and learn I guess, but there would of been no way for me to know I suppose without plugging it into USB on day one.
Hopefully this helps someone in the future.
