In order to get the full potential of HP with the AFE-- the LT1 needs more fuel at WOT or power enrichment---The larger intake tube diameter--relocation of the MAF sensor--and free flowing filter all add to a need to add more fuel---
Data logging my car it showed a +13 % more fuel was being added at P/T to compensate for the AFE----this all happens on it's own and will eventually learn out after 50-75 miles of driving----However at WOT you have to add the needed fuel in your tune--I prefer to add a % to the MAF table from 6500 HZ on up--since the MAF was directly affected by the AFE----OR you can add more fuel using the Power Enrichment table ----Using a wideband to check AFR's at WOT I only needed to add about 6.5% of the 13% required at P/T---or under 6500HZ in the MAF table----Total airflow increased from 48 Lbs at WOT to 51.44 !!!! More airflow = more HP------ ( no access to a dyno where I live)
The AFE definitely made most of the power when we tested that combo on the TSP dyno using the out of the box intune file.
That being said if you do a intune you can also get custom files emailed to you! We email intune files for customers with TSP headers and AFE intakes a lot!
I think the intune gives you room to grow & that's a nice feature.
