Default C7 Mufflers

OK , for the guys who have removed the mufflers from your 2014 c7, was there a big difference in sound afterwards ? Was it worth removing them ? And did it trigger any codes ? Thanks for the info...

I'm sensing a group of overly-familiar pictures about to be posted to this thread...

OP, no codes will be triggered. You may have recorded DTCs (not MILs/CELs) if you have NPP and remove the valves, but it sounds like you're talking about the normal system.

You're fine - it's kind of a forum joke at this point, but not about you or your post.

OP on forums stands for "Original Poster", so in this case, that's you.

On the NPP, it does certainly sound quite a bit different when lopping them off. Have you considered other (less permanent or invasive) modifications like a catless X-pipe to increase your volume?

A very popular mod for owners with NPP around here is the Corsa Double Helix X-pipe.

Worst case, assuming it's still not loud enough for you, you can move on to more drastic modding.

I would sooner suggest buying a new exhaust system (Corsa Extreme, for example) than hacking apart your factory NPP system. Those systems are quite expensive, and have a good resale value - believe me, I had to buy one for testing on my project. Not fun.

My NPP mufflers are sitting on a shelf in my garage.
If I NEED to, I could easily re-install them.
Of course, I don't want to, and likely never will.

Resale is nice on those (especially with retrofitting being a reality now), but if you're like me, you're keeping parts juuuuust in case you want/need to sell it.

I had to give up that habit after half of my car was changed over.

NTMD8R...did you remove just your mufflers? If so, what kind of difference did you have ?

jdecker,
check out my posts (#8, #16, #18, #20, #24) in this thread where I show the removal, and a video of the sound, and my comments about the loudness.
