Direct injection sound
I was wondering how much noise others are hearing from direct injection. I notice it when driving along guardrails and hear the sound like a bad lifter. I know I have been told this is one of the noises produced by direct injection. When pulling into garage it also sounds pretty loud like a bad lifter. Anyone else share how noticeable the sounds they hear. Any remedy anyone is aware of. Gm tells me it is just the nature of the system.

DI gasoline engines are like diesels in that they use a very high pressure injection of fuel directly into the combustion chamber and you know how much noise a diesel makes. in comparison GDI is very quiet.

Hear the same thing on my car now that temps are below 80, at first it disturbed me but now not so much, seems to have no effect on performance. Here in Phoenix heat is more an enemy, and my car actually likes winter.. :-)

It's normal, my 2014 is my first GDI and when I got it used I took it to the dealership because I honestly thought the sound was something bad. The vette tech was kind enough to run me through the whole system and explained that the noise is normal.
It's gotten down into the 30s a few nights here and with me working nights I can definitely tell you it is a bit louder on those cold mornings after the car has sat out all night.
