I installed a Hurst in my C6 Z06 and replaced it with the MGW because the Hurst rattled and made so much noise I couldn't stand it! I also installed a MGW flat stick (red) in my CRM C7 Z51 and love it! It took me about 2 hours to install the MGW.
Installation video for the C7 is on you tube, so take a look.
I have installed short shifters several over the years. Currently have a Hurst billet plus
in my 2008. Always thought it was good. That was until I bought a MGW about 2 months ago. For my 2015.
The construction is more precise has the whole lower assembly and has a double type pivot. The quality is finer in every comparison.
From material and design the rest don't compare.
I had the Hurst Billet shifter in my C5Z06 and thought it was a little too stiff for a street car...
I switched to the Core Shifters/Hurst shifter and it was the perfect combination of short throw and easier to make the 5th, 6th, and reverse shifts.
The core shifters model uses Hurst billet plus 2 internals and I liked the retro style of the chrome Hurst stick and ball... When I got the Stingray, I transferred it from the Z06 to the new car...the shifter boxes are all the same...

I bought an older MGW to install in my C5Z at first I didn't like the stiffness then I started shimming out the detente now it shifts much better.
The MGW is very precise even with a little stiffness you can feel the quality of the shifter.
I don't think I would ever change my C7 shifter because I like it too much but if I did I would definitely buy MGW
If you tried the newest I'm sure you would find improved.
The stock piece really is sad and has long and sloppy throws compared it falls short when you go from one to the newest MGW.
The MGW is fine machine. They really impressed me because they kept working on the finished product.
Look whats included it rebuilds the whole deal under the console.
You used to hear of rattles and so forth but they kept working and now the product is far and away the best and is a precise system and machine.
Easy as pie and quick. Even reverse is as easy as the rest.
The only gear that requires a push to catch is 7th and that's fine with me. You don't want 7th when going to 5th you will never want to grab 7th in a race.
Someone should measure the actual throw of the MGW from 3rd to 4th, at the centerline of the top of the **** to confirm if it is really shorter than stock...
I am thinking that stock was about 3 inches.
My Hurst is right at 2-7/8" on centerline of shift pattern on ****..
I would be surprised if MGW is much shorter, if any.
I doubt the MGW is any shorter. Many people read that some people like the MGW so they go
And purchase one.The truth is they haven't tested the other brands so they really don't
Know.
