I've been very happy with transformation. It feels totally stock when driven normally yet becomes a pure animal when you get into the throttle. The BOV makes it sound badazz but if you daily drive I suggest you try the quieter BOV as mine (Tial Q)is crazy loud. It scares women and children

Yessir. Mine included a cam for that price too.

If you want to trade your Q for the Qr I will trade you.

C7&7....what shop did you go to if you don't mind me asking? (Feel free to pm me if you would rather).

Also to the OP....it looks like you're only about an hour and a half from the ECS shop themselves and they have done many "700whp" package installs using the big 3 (supercharger, headers, meth) with much success. Like others have said, if you are going much beyond the 700 mark, you should really look at forged pistons. Vengeance Racing makes a set of forged drop in pistons that have been a great replacement for many.

Here is just one of a few threads they have posted on some of their installs....

Perfect thread for our intentions on our 2014 C7 A6. We have this installed:

ECS Supercharger @ 10 lbs
ECS Alky Meth Control - Single Nozzle
ARH 1 7/8" with Cats
LMR Revised Breather / Catch Can

We are at a solid 650 - 670 rwhp based on the (3) different dyno's that we've been on.

We are slated in October to drop off our car for the Texas Speed & Performance heads / VVT-1 or 2 cam package. We are also dropping our tranny for a 3200 stall Circle D Pro III 258mm converter. We might be pushing the envelope but hoping for a solid 750 rwhp number. Getting to that point of: Forged pistons or leave it alone?

We don't drag race our car and it has never seen a race track.. but it has seen a few more than a couple sprints from 40 - ??? mph! (shhhhhhhhhhh)!

Everything I have heard is 700rwhp is the point where you want to replace the Pistons. Risk/reward?

You are correct. We have many C7s producing 650 to low 700RWHP with various combinations and the cars are all performing well. Anything above that and it seems the stock LT1 pistons are the weak link. Looking back we were very fortunate to push our car to 890RWHP on the completely stock bottom end and to this day the car is performing great, BUT I do not think that is the norm.

Given our findings we did take the time to work with Wiseco and develop a forged piston upgrade including piston/pin/ring pack that does not require any balancing to your stock crank/rod combo. This piston upgrade has proven reliable to 950RWHP several times for us now.

We have probably a few dozen build threads on this forum with various combinations/results.

590-610RWHP with blower only (6-8psi)
Add methanol to combo and see 650RWHP

650-750RWHP with blower/cam (33% fuel pump lobe)/Headers/Methanol

If we can be of any help do not hesitate to give us a call. We have numerous packages available listed on our website that have been proven time and time again.

Ron,

Need your advice.

Currently running ECS kit at 7psi, stage 1 cam, headers and meth.

Car made 660/560. Work done by LMR.

I am really wanting to pull the restrictor and go to 10psi.

Thinking it will take to the car to 725-750 at 10psi.

Have you built this combo without touching the pistons? Fuel ok? A/F ok?

Thanks,

Tim

My wife and I wanted to say thanks to everyone for the excellent push of information here on the forums. Today, we took the first step to make it official. Months ago, Theta touched on the subject early on for us when it comes to forged internals for our car. Happy to report that we're taking the next step. In roughly 3 weeks, I will have secured my funding for our car to be stripped down in October. I've already got the parts listed above installed on our C7. Here is a brief summary of the new items to be installed:

TS&P VVT-1 Camshaft
TS&P Hardened Chromoly Pushrods
DOD Delete Kit (DOD hole plug, head gaskets, ARP head stud kit, lifter tray and lifters)
Comp Cam Phaser Block
PRC .650" Dual valve springs (including titanium retainers, hardened spring set and new valve seals)
CNC machine port our heads and hone the block
Custom Tune
Circle D PRO III 3200 rpm Torque Converter
Forged Wiseco Pistons and new rings (compression lowered to approximately 9.5:1)
ECS pulley?

That should land us in the ballpark of 760 - 780 rwhp I'm told.

LG dropped/drag spindles will be needed for sure after that... For full throttle under 60 mph... Or more.

We would like that for sure.. We would enjoy meeting other forum members! Hopefully, we will be able to snap a few pics of the build and shoot a few vids during the dyno sessions.. (but just don't want to be in their way during the whole ordeal). I'm sure they wouldn't mind some professional shots taken of their handy work with our DSLR's..

So if I understand correctly with simply drop in Pistons the motor will handle 900-950whp all day?

Why you are in there why not do drop in rods?

From what I understand...and somebody correct me if I'm wrong...the pistons are the only part of the engine that aren't forged. The rods and all are already forged from the factory. That's why Vengeance worked with Wiseco to develop a drop in replacement piston, because everything else seems to be fine and not need be replaced. The pistons were the only weak link.

You are correct. The LT1 has forged connecting rods and a forged crank.

Only ones I can think of are the Vengeance Racing drop in forged pistons, mainly because they won't require any re-balancing due to the fact that they are a direct replacement for the OEM Cast pistons.

That's the ones that I went with.. They are made by Wiseco. Since the engine will be out on our car, the block will be honed and we are beefing up everything.. lower compression, new cam, Circle D converter, etc..
