EFILIVE Software Update

Some are simply re-configurations of existing tables but most are new tables--Many of them are "0"rd out which in the past always meant that these are new items that are coming in the future
The new tables include :
Brake TQ management
TCM TQ management
Several "variable intake manifold" tables
OBDII readiness tests ( ability to permanently set or change them)

As an example I tuned a '14 Z71 A6 and without even touching the timing tables or fuel tables the car became extremely lurchy---So much the owner's wife while pulling into the garage knocked the mirror off !! So I had to De-tune the car to make his wife happy !!
These E92 ECM;s are so much different than ever before and tuning is actually simpler
--
A The biggest stock tuning flaw is that even if you floor the throttle--it does NOT go to WOT until you reach approx. 3600 RPM's- really makes them a dog off the line---this is tunable---and the 1st thing I do---I try to explain tuning tables to HP guys on the forum and they have no idea what I am speaking of---There are so many tables in EFILIVE that unlock HP and TQ and throttle response as I mentioned that don't even mess with spark and fuel--- and after making timing adjustments and minor fuel adjustments these cars are simply nasty
Stock timing example-------
-negative timing up to 1000 RPM
up to 1600 only 5* of timing
up to 2000 RPM's only 12* of timing
up to 2600 RPM's less than 20* of timing
The new A6 converter has a higher stall than ever before like 2000
So there is no reason not to have gobs of timing down that low as the engine is not under any load---Even minor changes in these areas can make your car "ramp up" thru the lower RPM range and fry your tires until you lift---Not gonna happen with a stock tune---

A tune is not going to cause an oil leak, for example. A tune will also need to be proven to cause the failure. If they look at the combustion chamber and find evidence of preignition induced ring land failure, yes you may be with the bill. If your valve drops LS7 style, they are going to have to explain, maybe in court, how a tune caused that.
The are accounts of repairs being warrantied with a tune, and trust me, having worked for the corporate side of the business, the manufacturer is no more excited about taking a warranty claim to court as the customer. If they aren't positive it's going to hold up, they are going to make the repair.
On the positive side, does anyone ask themselves why we don't have 1000s or even 100s of examples to set ourselves a precedent? It's because it just doesn't happen very much! If there is an engine problem, it usually is epidemic, and if you suffer failure from a tune, you know it.....I don't think I have ever seen a bone stock engine failure caused by a tune.....I have seen plenty of bad tunes on highly modified cars though, that eventually fail. There's a big difference, imo.
