So I brought my car in for the 500 mile service. I let myself be talked into using Dexos instead of Mobile1. The next oil change Will be with Mobile1. I'm now at around 3000 miles and a quart or so low. Can I top it off with mobile1 (which I have) or do I need to use Dexos? Also, as I understand the warrentee I'm good for up to 5 oil changes over 2 years. Will dealers warrentee the oil change even though the mileage doesn't warrant it yet? I might mention I didn't purchase my car from this particular dealer.
Confusing as it may be, dexos™ is not a brand or type of oil at all. Instead, dexos™ is a specification concocted by General Motors along with a license the auto maker sells to oil manufacturers. Oil specifications are nothing new. GM has found a way to make money, selling companies a license to display a logo on their products stating they meet GM specifications. To display the logo, oil makers now have to pay GM, though their products exceed dexos™. Any brand of oil that displays the dexos™ logo is adequate to meet GM warranty requirements.
Why invent a new oil license?
GM’s stated aim is to simplify oil selection with their vehicles. In the years since its introduction, dexos™ does not appear to have accomplished this. GM states the new specification/license will help insure oil that will increase fuel mileage and help with extended drain intervals. To meet dexos™ oils will likely need to be either fully-synthetic or synthetic-blends. Requiring synthetic blend oil may help with the stated aim, but multiple organizations already rate oils.

My understanding is that we get two free oil changes...the most important at 500 miles, and the next at 5000 unless you are tracking the car. I plan to change annually or after every other track event, since I won't have many miles each year. I just had my 500 mile change and they used Mobil 1 5W30 at Coughlin Chev. in OH.
Thank you all for your valued input. It seems my dealer offers 4 oil changes within 2 yrs, under 24k miles and within 20% of GM recommended service. That sounds a little weird to me so I'm calling the Service Mgr this morning. I also found this on the forum:
The 2014-2015 Chevrolet Complete Care Program for Corvettes was designed to take into account the preferred Mobil 1 oil choice of many Corvette owners. As a reminder, dealers are required to use Mobil 1 when performing oil changes on ALL 2014-2015 Corvettes through the Chevrolet Complete Care Program. Current reimbursement levels for Corvette are based on Mobil 1 usage. Please remind all personnel that only Mobil 1 should be used. In addition, please refer to GlobalConnect message # G_0000205212 for details on dry sump equipped (Z51, Z52, and Z06) Corvettes.
In the event a customer paid an upcharge for Mobil 1 under the Chevrolet Complete Care Program, customers should be directed to contact Chevrolet Customer Service representatives, socialmedia@gm.com, for assistance on reimbursement.
For the 2014 and 2015, you get 4 free changes in the first 2 years /24K miles (with a 5th at 500 miles on a dry sump engine) AT ANY OLM INDICATION YOU WANT. You do not need to wait until the OLM is down to 20%.
If your dealer doesn't understand this, contact Chevy Customer Care via this forum and have them contact your dealer. It's unbelievable how incompetent Chevy service departments are.
For 2016, it's only 2 free changes in the first year, but it's still doesn't matter what the OLM says.
My dealer didn't know anything about Mobile1,then I showed him the write up from GM.
I don't have A Z51.I had 1st oil change around 5000 miles.2nd at 8000.The 3rd and last
Free one around 13000.
My dealer quoted me for base C7 $120 Mobile 1, car not under warranty.
Not really a warranty question. All 2014 and 2015's get 4 free Mobil 1 oil changes in the first 24 months / 24,000 miles, under chevy's Complete Care program. If you're past 24 / 24,000 then you'll have to pay, but shouldn't pay before that.
It still seems to me that people agonizing over whether to use the GM blend or Mobil 1 is a waste of time for most owners.
I used the GM blend the first oil change, and then changed over to Valvoline Synpower, the same as I use in my other cars.
Mobil 1 was one of the first synthetics, but not necessarily the best anymore... Valvoline and Castrol EDGE actually did better on the standard camshaft wear test than Mobil 1...
Technically, Mobil 1 (blue bar) did not even pass the test.

I have been hearing that A Castrol oil is Magnetic. What that means it don't drip off the metal in storage but clings to it.So A start up after storage won't be metal hitting against metal.

Well, no. Not really.
Castrol uses the term "magnatec," not magnetic. They claim the oil's "intelligent" molecules cling to metal parts and "defy gravity."
It may be good oil, but these ad claims are just hype, and Castrol provides no evidence to support their claims.

My Austin Service Manager was unaware of this. I showed it to him and he promptly changed my oil to Mobil 1 even though it was not due for a change.
