Oil pressure was normal. I was mildly beating it, up between 4-5k rpms about 5 minutes before the sound came. The dealership is tearing it down and said it could be a week for that, then they have to take pictures and send to Chevy on what to do further (replace, rebuild type of decision) It's sitting at 7,664 miles.
The dealership is easy to deal with... but I'm not happy about paying for a Corvette and having to drive a Malibu for who knows how long.
Bearings 5 and 7 failed. I could only really hear 1 tapping, but I guess if 1 fails it would throw enough metal into the motor to cause a 2nd. Sounds like my kinda luck.

So are they replacing your engine with a new long block? Sorry to hear about that.
if they rebuild your motor you should put forged rods and pistons, crank while they are in the motor. That is what ford did for my diesel while it was getting rebuilt under warranty. I bought the parts and they installed them
The dealer will do a should cost to provide a price for repairing the engine. GM will then determine whether or not it better to repair or replace. If GM decides to repair the engine they will only authorize a repair with no changes from stock. Besides the crank and rods are already forged so there isn't much to be gained by going to a forged bottom end.
