Would changing the transmission fluid help with overheating?
I have a 2015 Corvette Z51 with A8 transmission and as you all know, it overheats on the track. Since the advisor at the dealership won't be likely to be able to do anything about it, I'm wondering if it's worth asking the dealer to change the transmission oil for a cost.
I asked this because an owner of Z06 told me that it helps a bit when we both on track. And also I find that on my first track day it begins to deny my shift at 277F, while the 2nd, it started at 256F, i.e. threshold lower.
So I'm wondering if changing transmission oil would help. And what could be the reasonable cost
Unless the fluid got so hot as to damage/change its properties, no. Don't know how much heat the Dexron VI will tolerate before breakdown.
I don't know what dealers charge to change the fluid in a C7 but the local GMC dealer charges $250 to do the 6-speed auto in my Pontiac G8GT. It takes 7 qts of Dexron VI at something like $7/qt at local stores, counting filter and labor costs.

Don't do it. I have looked into this. The A8 is built around the use of thinner fluid. Check out some of my threads on A8 overheating and there something in the pipe line from GM which will arrive in two months or so. See post #14 on below thread

Good luck. Don
That seems high... In my 09' G8, I had a new flex plate installed and the larger Camaro pan for that amount of labor including fluid at the local AAMCO shop. I provided Circle D flex plate and the pan.

Actually 2015 is more expensive. 11 quarts and the 2015 uses special fluid that is $36 a quart. Form there you add couple of hours for labor and you will end up at close to $600

Agreed...
But he was talking about his G8. If... or when a larger pan is available for the A8, it should help in reducing tranny temps. Also, hopefully someone will design a plug and play front tranny cooler that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
