Default Crank Seal?

So I guess my crank seal has started leaking! I have a SC on the car with a mild tune, I know that the front crank seal is a weak spot and some have put an LS3 seal in? is this a direct replacement for the stock seal?

LS3 direct replacement, you do not need to modify it.

What tune are you running, too much timing can create knock/cylinder pressure and build too much crankcase pressure.

How much timing and how much boost?

I just checked with the tuner he said there is 16-17 of timing with no detonation and the boost is what ever the Procharger came with my guess is 7-8 lbs

I am no tuning expert. However, it is my understanding that 16 - 17 degrees is WAY too much timing for a boosted LT1, especially on pump gas with no meth.

That's too much timing on pump, hence the crank seal blowout. Repair it and pull timing down to several degrees. Is this 93 octane or 91???

Just bc it doesn't show detonation doesn't mean the motor wants that much timing. The "tuner" should know that!!!

I ran 16 degrees one time on a lt1 with lots of m1 meth

I'm not an expert either that's why I leave it to the people who know more than me. I'm sure if it had a lot more boost than mine it could be a problem. The car only has 3800 on it and I don't go around town in boost all the time. I just wasn't sure if others had a problem with the crank seal.

What do you recommend for timing? I only run 93

Again, I am no expert, but on 93 from what I have read posted from tuners, I would run no more than 12 - 13 degrees of timing. Of course the AFR and everything else needs to be taken into consideration as well.

start with 10. I run 8-10 on 93 but I have 12:1 compression.

I have mine tuned with 9 degrees of timing on 9psi boost. I use 91 octane and single nozzle meth injection. 11.9:1 AFR, Knock sensors fully enabled.

Bringing this back from the grave but my tuner/I stalker says you have to cut the backside of the LS3 seal to work on these C7’s???

Up above it says no modification?

Is my installer right?
