Default Meth and hard running

Is there a calculation on how much meth you will use running hard?

Mine is set a tick about 4 and I do not believe it is a progressive controller.

I'm looking at the Big Bend race down in Texas which is 59 miles 1 way, very high speed. Lots of room for WOT acceleration.

At setting 4, with it activated, how many seconds on total will it spray?

Is there ever a point at higher speeds(160+) where you need to be at a sufficient throttle position to leave the meth active without being at WOT to hold that kind of speed?

We are installing devil's own dual nozzle setup. It says each are ten gallons per hour.....so I estimated we will use a third of a gallon a minute.

depends on nozzle size and tank size.

Whatever comes with ECS's base kit, single nozzle, using the washer fluid tank.

Let's say 1.5 gallons in the tank.

Let's say it's one 10 GPH nozzle.
10 gallons in 60 minutes
1.5 gallons in 9 minutes

Let's say 4 is half voltage to pump so 18 minutes.

18 minutes of throttle/load/RPM/boost level that triggers the Alky kit, depends on how you drive I guess.

To clarify further, the nozzles are rated at 100 PSI, so if you have a pump that produces 250 PSI, you are going to use a maximum 25 gal per hr with a #10 nozzle, if the methanol controller is set at full open 100% of the time.

What you will actually use depends on the type of controller you are using and what it is set at. Most sophisticated systems like Alky Control or Devil's Own have progressive controllers that your tuner will set up for your system.

In normal driving, unless you are in the throttle all the time, you are not going to use all that much methanol.

I used a very simple system on my TT Flex, which was an on-off switch that was activated by boost pressures. It was set at 6 PSI. Of course, I was running a 3 bar sensor, so my max boost was nearly 20 PSI at the end of 2nd gear. On a dyno, my tune looked very rich until about 4K RPM, as I was at full spray once boost hit 6 psi. However in the real world, if one is at WOT you are almost always above 4K. When I got my high 12's with the Flex, I was running at #10 nozzle, 70% methanol, and a 250 PSI pump. A gallon of 100% methanol lasted me for a long time, becuse even when I accelerated reasonably hard in town, the pump rarely was activated.

Thanks for the replies.

So I doubt I'd have enough meth to cover a 118 mile race. I suspect a good portion of that would be at WOT or enough to get the meth to come on.

I also wonder if the car would really hold up. They hold up pretty well for beating on them on the street, and even on a road course I do not think they would see the level of engine abuse like they would here.

I'm trying to find out if they will let me take the meth pump out and put the old non-meth tune back in the car just to run the event.

Also may take a different car, I think it would be fun in pretty much any vehicle. I thought about my S4, 888's or similar tire, better brake pads, and maybe a small drop and run that with the tune I have in it now.

Would you really need to pull the pump out? Can you not just switch it off and load a different tune?

Some people move their methanol tanks to the trunk. Will a 55 gal drum fit??? HAHAHA

I agree with Higgs about switching pump off. That way you don't have to plug anything.

Other option is to reduce the pump speed/pressure output and tune accordingly. Even a small amount of spray, water, methanol or any combination of the two will help your engine run cooler. BMW uses water injection in some of their engines.

Because the race promoters will probably require it. They will probably want me to remove it all together, the pump removal will be a compromise.
