Default Need advice on header-style selection

I know... 1st world problem... however...

I am close to throwing down on some long tubes w/xpipe to give me a few extra ponies and make the car sound god-like. I just want to make sure I chose the correct size for my application (which is where it gets complicated)...

(Disclaimer: I am not an exhaust science major, so I am basing this process on what I think I understand, which could be way off base)

Currently, LT's, an xpipe, and a tune would be my only performance mod, so I am thinking that 1 and 3/4 inch makes the most sense, but, in a few months I may breakdown and add a supercharger kit, and wonder if I would regret the smaller tubes at that point?

So.... These are my options as I see them (please let me know if I am wrong, or missing an option):

1) Buy the 1 and 3/4 headers now, and upgrade them later to 1 7/8 when I get a supercharger (sounds expensive though)

2) Buy the 1 and 3/4 headers now, and just run them with a supercharger later

3) Buy the 1 and 7/8 headers now, and run those without a supercharger for a while (is this recomended?)

4) Some other option possibly?

If you're planning on doing a tune, go with option #3 and don't look back.

1/78 no doubt 1/34 is only if u don't wanna bother to tune the car 1/78 is all around better May lose Alittle torque but gain more on top so it's a wash

Thanks all! So it sounds like going bigger is probably better in this case (as long as I back it up with a tune)

I'm considering doing the same mods as you. Please let us know what you decide and how it turns out. Would like to know if the seat of the pants feel was worth the money.

Will do. I am still on the fence about supercharging, but, am pretty sure I will end up with long tube headders, x-pipe, possibly a CAI and of course some sort of tune. I just need to figure out what brands/services to use now

Still trying to decide... The only thing I am still unsure about, is tuning it, because once I do that, I am pretty much on my own for drivetrain repairs. I haven't been able to accept that yet.

We did a lot of testing when designing the LG Super Pro's for the C7. We ended up at two different designs. 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped header for most NA builds and a 1 7/8 for most supercharged builds.

I have made over 730 rwhp with a blower and our stepped headers on pump gas so you can make power with the stepped. If you are un-sure about it, personally I would do the stepped headers as they do make more mid range torque.

Second vote for LG stepped headers. I did their race cats, ported intake and TB from Weapon X, and AFE. Car hauls ***

I did the LG step down on my car with the 3 inch mid pipe and front cat from them. It made a great diff by the seat feel in the car.

I love the R&D that LG has done with all the parts that they put out on all the stuff they do. You will not go wrong with the LG step down on your car at all. Robert

I have a tech at my dealership that turns a blind eye to that stuff. Keeps me clean. Did you do any mods? I"m tuning next week, no headers. Will let you know.

No, I decided to hit a deer on the highway instead, so I have to spend some coin on that now.

I don't think I will end up doing any tuning, (headers) to mine, I have an extended warranty, and it would just be throwing that money away. I will probably throw in an x-pipe to beef up the sound a bit, but leave the rest alone for now.
