I was out for a Saturday cruise with some of my corvette friends. It was warm at about 95 degrees and we were on some nice curvy roads in the countryside. After a stop at a stop sign I let some metal cars clear and start to catch up with my buds. Nail it pretty hard. Car is in Touring mode and D. Good acceleration and shift from first to second. I eased up a bit and no shift to 3rd so I took my foot off the gas all together and it stays in second. Finally I move the selector to Sport and it shifts and all is normal. I drive the rest of the way to the eatery in Sport D. On the way home we get to the freeway and I wait at the on ramp for some metal cars to clear and nail it again. Same problem excerpt is stuck in 3rd. So I move the selector back to Touring and all is back to normal. I intend to take it in Wednesday but was wondering if you all have any thoughts. Couldn't find anything with search and the car has about 2800 miles on it.
Most likely went into 'performance shift mode' or whatever its called. If it thinks you are driving it aggressively it will hold a gear for quite a while. Sometimes all the way to redline even at 1/2 throttle. If you wait long enough it it will go back to normal.
When you move the mode selector it goes back to default. Until you floor it and let off again.
I was thinking about that but I thought Touring mode wouldn't do that. It would be what I wanted in Track mode or Paddle shift mode but not in Touring D mode.

Sounds normal to me..
Yep.

Yes it will happen in Touring also. I've seen it pop up on my dash before in both modes; T & S.
Sounds completely normal. This is how these trans absolutely kill old school slush boxes, they understand that if you're driving hard, you don't want it to shift to OD the second you lift off the gas!
Do you have an A6 or A8? The A8 does do performance shifting in Touring. I saw it flash up on my dash just last week while in Touring.
the same thing happened to me after a full throttle acceleration from 70 to 90 mph. It stayed in 4th after backing off the throttle. I was in track mode and someone on the forum said that is normal and that it probably went into performance shifting. You indicated it "flashed on you dash". Where on the dash does it indicate performance shifting? I didn't notice anything.

Thanks!
Right in the center of the cluster. I tried to get a picture this morning but too hard trying to drive and get a picture. Maybe if I can figure out a way to use a GoPro I might be able to.

Be careful quoting the manual; it states that my '15 A8 with Mag Ride DOES NOT have launch control.....but yet at the Ron Fellows COS they do a demo launch with an A8 & Mag Ride
OP, I have had the same issues; I believe the computer is still thinking/waiting for more "Right Foot Happy Time", even though you are in touring mode. I found if I manually up-shift a couple of gears after doing a little "Happy Foot" time, the computer will reset to touring driving rather quickly.
