The reason why I ask is as follows. I recently had my coolant changed by my local dealer. Now I can see coolant in the under-the-hood tank but it is below the fill line. When I go to the dealer and ask them to fill it up properly the engine may still be warm if they jump right on it. So can I tell when warm if the right level is in the system? Presumably higher than the cold fill line??
Take the car back and tell them it's below the line when cold, tell them to fill it up properly and of course wait until it's cold so it can be done properly.

Really? Before the coolant went about half inch below the line, and now it's a little bit below the line again. My ford focus does the same every once awhile and other focus owner have the same problem.

Anyone else have to fill up the coolant once awhile? (and it's not leaking and it just goes below the min level every few k miles)

Don't you need to fill it up to the line if the level is below that line? That's what manual says, or as long as you see there is some coolant in the tank, then no problem it's all good? But how low should you refill it then?

I'm just speculating that the amount to bring it up to Fill line from where he/she sees it would be minuscule IMO.
