Hello folks! Extremely proud owner of a 2017 Grand Sport!! I ordered just about every feature I wanted however, one huge regret I have is not ordering the PDR/Navigation option. I would like to know if it was possible to purchase this option for my vehicle after I already took delivery. If anybody know anything about this, please let me know. I'd sincerely appreciate it! Thank you so much!
You might be able to find it cheaper, I dunno. I've never seen anyone add the PDR, I don't think you can get the software for it. The aftermarket solutions are really good though, check out the Garmin Virb, it's got better picture than oem and you get much of the same telemetry with your recordings.
Thanks a ton guys!! Very helpful. I contacted the OEM Auto Parts company link Rooster suggested to me and it does indeed supply the Navigation upgrade module for my car. In looking at the video I did notice the PDR option icon was available though I'm pretty sure it doesn't work. I did ask them about possibly getting the PDR system to work and asked if I needed any other equipment. Unfortunately I contacted them after hours so they are calling me back tomorrow during business hours hopefully with a definitive answer. Can't see how we could get so close and not actually get this working. I'll post again tomorrow once they get back to me. Thanks again everybody!!
Best of luck ...PDR is a series of complicated systems ...might be in one module ...dunno but Your cockpit conversations are recorded by a dedicated cabin microphone. In order to capture real-time performance data, a self-contained telemetry recorder is hardwired into the vehicle’s Controller Area Network (CAN) to access vehicle information ranging from engine speed and gear selection to braking force and steering wheel angle. For more precise positioning and corner traces, the system uses a dedicated GPS receiver operating at 5 Hz — five times faster than the in-dash navigation system.
There is alot going on with this system. That said if you do not track, it's "gee whiz" factor fades with me and becomes a glorified dashcam . There is another aspect via the "Cosworth Toll box" software that allows you to analyze your track videos even more !!
The PDR increased the cost of the navigation system $1,000. My 2004's navigation system did not have it, evidently the system was not ready for 2014. My 2017 will have it, probably will not be used much, we will see.

I use my PDR as a glorified dash cam. I only wish it would come on automagically.
Thanks for the replies guys!! If you are in the Tri-state metropolitan area (Bergen County Specifically in NJ), this company called "Model Electronics" knows what kits, harnesses and parts to use in order to install the PDR system (with navigation) in a C7 2014-2017 even if it wasn't factory ordered with it. They are offering a 3 year labor/parts guarantee/warranty on it. It is a little pricey weighing in at $2500-$3000 but at least you'll have the OEM system and sleep easier if you suffer from buyer's remorse like I am. The system hasn't been installed yet but should be ready for installation next week. I will post the results and leave a review here. Hopefully this can help anybody else out here if they were considering having the PDR done post-factory built. Thanks again and I'll be posting here ASAP!!

when I ordered my 15 I didn't realize that the PDR came with NAV so I didn't get it because I didn't want NAV for a track car.
If you're wanting the PDR for going to the track there are plenty of excellent options that give you the same or better data.
AIM
Harry's
vbox
etc etc.
For the price you're looking at to install the PDR after the fact you could install a in-car data acquisition system that makes the PDR look like crap.

I'm all ears. What did you have in mind? I was also trying to get a system that could allow VLOG'ing while on the street or track. I know the PDR doesn't take in-cabin video. That kind of sucks.

depends on what you want out of it and how much you want to spend.
for a pretty robust system for not a ton of money you could go with Harrys laptimer for iphone with an external 10Hz GPS & external OBDII dongle for OBD data and a gopro
(you can use JUST the iphone with the app for some really good info but using external stuff gives you more information and better gps accuracy)
If you want to VLOG and do video overlays, you can pretty much use any video and overlay your track data on it with racerender.
